Isn't Chesterfield more local for him? This one has danger written all over it (the Oldham one never had legs); he'd be in League Two either this year or next.

However IF it happens - and I'd love him to stay - then I remind everyone of when we banked a fee for John Johnston and replaced him with Elliot Durell, Dan Mooney and Josh Lundstram on loan.

If selling up is what's required to allow us to regenerate and go another step, that's sadly what we have to do.
Is it more local?.....NO

I can assure you that Burslem to Knutsford is much easier than the journey to Chesterfield...albeit it can be done in an hour via Uttoxeter and Derby

Money talks     understandably so......and the magic money tree at Chesterfield is now bearing fruit once again.....they were flat broke when they had a multi millionaire businessman and ex-Sheff Weds owner in charge ????

"He comes in Bimmo's car - he's gonna be a star".

His career reached a new peak this evening as he captained Stevenage to a 2-1 FA Cup 3rd round victory at Premier League Aston Villa.
Not to mention his spell at Glastonbury with Madness

Do we get one of their strikers as part of the deal?
Well they have at least three that would walk staightv into our starting 11

Back in the 70s and 80s the answer to the "said" quiz question for 92 FL teams was Grimsby

Grimsby Town......classic quiz question from my yoof

Confusingly there is now a Grimsby Borough, plus Cleethorpes Town, who have been quite successful in recent years (including a certain Vase final). I don't know where they play though.

Did anyone mention Port Vale?
Think they were called Burslem Port Vale.....and then dropped the Burslem bit

They still play in Burslem....so I argue they are not a team that does not play in their own town

Good to hear
A balanced approach needed.

Have to say not always young people causing problems.... two complete clowns on the Popside Boxing day, both over 50 shouting uneccessary abuse at Fax players taking throw ins....embarrassing. Never seen them before so hopefully they wont be back until we play Chelsea in next years FA cup 4th round

« on: December 13, 2022, 12:56:42 PM »

Goalkeepers:
1.  Oliver BYRNE - 6!10 slightly disappointed with some of his play and attitude at times. Some. Top, top saves, but rarely off his line and a lot of save able goals.
21. Matthew GOULD - 7/10 Looked very sold when needed
29. Dermot MEE - 4/10 - can't see him beyond Con North standard/playing lower league abroad.

Defenders:
2. Edward JONES - 7/10 solid and grown as the seasons gone on. Would be happy to see him move permenant.
3. Liam BROCKBANK - 5/10 not up to this level (midtable)
5. Toby MULLARKEY - 9/10 Player of the year, matured in his captaincy. Superb at RB and helped steady our season
6. Lewis BAINES - stats dont lie, probably our best signing. We should sign more top CN players, over kids.
22. Ross BARROWS - 4/10 probably the most disappointing signing, too many errors.
23. Jake COOPER - 6/10 like Toby under Hannigan and Jones.
26. James JONES - 7/10 very shaky start, proven solid.

Central Midfielders:
8. Josh LUNDSTRAM - 9/10 let down by Osborne at
4. Isaac MARRIOTT - 9/10 no coincidence his return seen us pick up so many points.
10. Elliot OSBORNE - 5/10 too many errors
18. Ben PRINGLE - 6/10 played well, but yet to see his full potential even from bench.
31. Dan MALONE - 6/10 can't see him getting in the first team at that level, perhaps someone we had to take for Eddy?

Attacking Midfielders:
7. Matty KOSYLO - N/A
11. Ryan COLCLOUGH - 9/10 carried us in the dark days. Worth the  ticket money some games
16. Chris CONN-CLARKE - 7/10 some fab moments, attitude and head goes sometimes
17. Brad JACKSON - 3/10 cant forgive that Torquay moment
28. Elliot NEWBY - 9/10 refired out season
33. Egli KAJA - 7/10 a live wire but we'd see f**k all at that point so anything would do.
??. Aaron BENNETT :) - 8/10 a great FL player in the making. After Newby, he'd be next on my summer shopping list

Strikers:
9. Jordan HULME - 7/10 (6 really but 2 minutes of joy at Torquay gets him a point)
30. Marcus DINANGA - 7/10 Disappointed with his penalty miss at Torquay but Ive enjoyed watching him develop.
35. Connor JENNINGS - 8.5/10 sparked our season

Manager:
Phil PARKINSON - 7/10 - some abysmal recruitment and some overhype of players aside, we've seen Phil grow off the pitch and Im confident with a better budget in Summer we can go beyond 14th-12th
  :)

Been a season with little pockets of joy but been a real drag so far. Fan zone, lack of trains to spark away days, feels like a lot more travel, some poor early home games.

Seems like a decent and fair school report...………..with exception that the Brad Jackson score feels a liitle harsh, albeit I have only seen him play at home

Pele in action against a one-time Alty striker when New York Cosmos played Dallas Tornado in the NASL in 1975:

I used to work with his brother, Gordon Moore, for many years.
Gordon was a big Bolton Wanderers fan and it was on a works night out when he learned I followed Altrincham. He asked me if I 'knew' his brother. I did not and in conversation with Brian Flynn, I was made aware of the Pele connection. To my amazement Gordon knew nothing abour the Pele connection either.
In a very sad turn of events, Gordon passed away after a short illness within 12 months of retiring at 60.

Back in the day a popular quiz question was  " who is Edson Arantes Do Nascimento better known as " . It is of course the great man himself  .Best wishes to one of the all time icons of Sport.
Ah yes....the old 'real names' classic quiz round.....

Marion Morrison
Archibald Leach
Doris Kapelhoff.....all spring to mind

When I was at Timperley Villa (boys teams 2006-2011), Unicorn were the side to beat, although most of their age group teams seemed to play in the top two divisions so my teams avoided them most years.
HBU got swallowed up I think when Altrincham FC created all their youth teams.

To be fair there were many well run clubs that each had their day e.g. Broadheath Central, Urmston Meadowside, Flixton, Stretfordians, Partington, Irlam. It was a thankless task at times, the kids were never any real bother, the problem was nearly always dealing with adults over various trivial issues and the usual mouthy parents at away games.

He should be put into a boxing ring for ten minutes with Tony.

He could receive a ban for all sorts of reasons and a fine for entering the pitch. As regards the bottle swapping, then there has to be some punishment for that, but easier to fine him heavily for encroachment and award Tony damages at a value that the law sees fit
