Read both 32 Programmes and Home & Away by Dave Roberts......both a decent read and had me laughing in tears at times....sad to learn he passed away at such a relatively young age

PS. Didn't even mention Mick Mcmanus, Steve Logan, Les Kellett etc!, 🙄😊😊
Cry Baby Jim Breaks.......A mate of mine says he played for the Royal Oak in Wythenshawe with no other than tag team legend Burt Royle

Just as a matter of minor interest I went to Erikstan Park yesterday to watch my younger son Alex play in a league cup final for AFC Didsbury; in goal against Romiley FC. AFC Didsbury won the game 2-0, Alex I am pleased to say saved a penalty. Like me in my younger days he is a pretty reasonable goalkeeper, but Alex went further than I did. I guess the Mark 2 is always an improvement on the Mark 1.

It was a nice ground but what impressed me more was their bar and clubhouse. Lovely room with a large TV, decent pint of Wainwright's and great band of Pork Scratchings too!! Very friendly club, only one mile from where I live in Brooklands. Will defo be there for the Alty friendly.
I used to go there some Saturdays when Alty away when the 'social club' was known locally as the Chicken Shed. Most people in there playing pool, watching Sky and betting on the horse racing. One hundred and fifty inside sampling beer and burgers.....25 outside watching live football......it was a decent place for an afternoon of sport

Not sure Jordan is a player to keep if we are to progress...yes cannot fault comittment to Alty or passion or effort....but is it five goals ?....Injuries and being played out of position notr helped... but we got to have better in this dog eat dog league

Or option 4. Suggest to a hard working volunteer who generally does a difficult job very well that one or two minor tweaks might improve things a bit.

And I don't get this notion that keeps floating around that we can't be more professional or slick without losing the friendliness or family atmosphere.
Good shout

All points taken on board....do not necessarily disagree with them......speakers are poor on Popside so not aware of some of the issues mentioned......but if so it leaves three options.....leave as is - hire a professional announcer with experience - ask for a volunteer happy to swerve pre match pints and sit up at the back of stand for 23 home games

I agree with comments above and know that many of the the comments are light hearted banter... ..but at the same time would want to highlight that the stadium announcer role is another voluntary role undertaken by a long standing supporter of the club

I don't want to see any sort of confrontational type of interview style either nor aggressive questioning, but as a supporter there are things I would like to know more about if it is possible without letting opposition clubs gain an advantage.....examples

Defenders.....conceded far too many goals from set pieces this season....what are we doing about it ?

Upfront....missing to many.....same question

Wingers.....assume will be getting some ?

Keeper.....do we need better ?

I know Neil and Parky know what is needed and will be working on it, but I think as fans we need reassurance.....the team who completed yesterday's game would almost certainly see us finish bottom 3 next season

Another half at home without a shot on target

Fizzing a few across the goal with nobody to convert is not going to get us on the scoresheet.......think they have only one on target so far in a pretty average game. They did score it though

Think it's safe to say I was enjoying the FAT SF up to about 88 minutes.
I was not enjoying the second half knowing only too well that a second goal was needed as I watched the chances go begging..........we all knew Fax had a goal in them, so I found the apprehension severely limited enjoyment

Nobody can be on the beach until we are 'safe'.....complacency is something to avoid in this league.....5 secs from Wembley

Altrincham FC First Team / Need to hit the ground running
« on: April 16, 2023, 06:45:29 PM »
For once, next season we need a decent start.

Our early home games this season have proved to be against relegated clubs and we amassed a poor points total at the time......no better example than the opener against a diabolical Maidstone

Hopefully we know what is needed over the summer
