Not long ago the players had a beer or soft drink with family members in the bar post match after the game....win or lose.
As the club moves forward  professionally that no longer happens, the awards night is no longer free for fans to attend post match and is now a paid for night out.

It is not expensive to be fair and probably great value in terms of night out.....but just a little bit alien to me. Paying to applaud the clubs players...its the fans who have followed the club home and away (not me) who should be there.

Fantastic progress over the last years, I suppose, comes with some minor drawbackss...a

Just give it the lot of them. Make it a collective POTY. There are so many who we would struggle to play without.

Baines, Ross, CCC, Osborne etc

Great shout......sort of agree....but like the Oscars....someone has to win

Gardeners.....?......disrespectful

Pitch much far away from good...but we just won last few games at home on same surface ??

great work from ground staff to prepare the pitch. i feared for it when driving to ground.

the segregation worked a treat so big well done to the club

the match made me sick esp 2nd half. balls of steel our defence. don't know why newby was withdrawn and not donawa.

how lunstram doesnt start for them is bizarre.

Aside from the opening 30 minutes or so, I thought that Gateshead were the better team and ultimately deserved their victory.

We really struggled to get going in that second half and our defending was well below its customary standard this season. Two uncharacteristically poor headers by Jake Cooper which teed up their second and third goals.

Superb strike from Dan Mooney, but their debutant in goal largely had very little to do. The introduction of Linney for Kosylo came far too late, to my mind.

What troubles me is that Gateshead exhibited far more facets to their game overall. Yes, we are fully aware that they can play it out from the back and always have good technical players in midfield who can pass the ball around nicely, but they were also not afraid to be more direct (as demonstrated by their first goal).

We rarely take the opportunity to put a speculative cross into the opposition penalty area, after which we might profit from a defensive error. I can't help but feel that on too many occasions we overelaborate and appear to be on a mystical quest to score the 'perfect' goal.

Ironically, Alex Newby's goal did result from an enforced 'route one' punt from Ethan Ross, which their defender duly made a complete hash of.

I thought that the booing of Dinanga when he was being substituted was rather uncalled for. If he scores the winning goal for Gateshead in their forthcoming FA Trophy Semi-Final against Macc, I will consider crowdfunding for a statue of him to be erected on George Street.
The booing was embarrassing......do not recall him slagging us off after he left the club (unless someone can remind me)...... do not remember him being lazy or half arsed either.....think his crime might be that he is much improved at another club and may well be playing in a Trophy Final soon

Oxford City in a vital final game has Eastbourne stamped all over it.

I wasn't going to say it!

Ethan Ross is a slight upgrade on Craig Dootson, so there's that I suppose.
I liked the fact that when we got promoted after the Eastbourne debacle....Dootson was quick to add his congratulations on social media and relieved the noose around his neck had been released  ;D

Is it me....or do we need to stop these 'showcase' games...being cynical now but every time we get the town down to watch us....we screw it up.

Apart from the wonder goal from Mooney, their keeper could have sat in a deckchair second half

Wonder if Halifax would struggle with their issues with Calderdale on the ground ownership

Great story Ray....just seen him on Wikopedia. Seems he played all the World Cup Games in 1958 and says he only got in the team as a result of the Munich aircrash and the tragic death of Roger Bryne.

Me and a friend were chatting about who we thought the oldest living England footballer was after Sir Bobby died and I looked it up at the time. The player in question died this week and somehow the name of Tommy Banks popped up in my junk feed

12
Tommy Banks (94) now oldest living England International.....believed to have played for Alty in early 60s

Does anyone know if the pitch invader was dealt with appropiatelı following the York game ?
By appropriately, I mean detained and handed over to the police and not just chucked out with 5 mins of the game remaining.

The consequences of not dealing with matters (now we are attracting a small number of idiots) is more idiots and eventually sanctions for the club.

Dour game.....think we mustered two shots on goal. They scored from our corner.
Offered nothing upfront with that long ball....could play til midnight and not score. Missing Linney !
Hope Isaac OK and injury doesn't ruin his England debut

And Dorking just stuck 4 past Chesterfield…..yikes!
Chesterfield have a poor record on plastic pitches......which should not be allowed at any level above school football in the Uk
