Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Forest Green's Accounts

two comments:

1) Their Net worth would worry me a little bit at -£4m - there is a big liability somewhere
2) I doubt their turnover is £64bn per annum - this would make them the 96th biggest company in the world - roughly the same size as SAB Milller (Fosters, Grolsch, Milllers, Peroni) and Daimler (Mainly Mercedes but also Smart, Mitsubishi and Maybach).  This makes them roughly  100 times bigger than the next biggest sports brand - Real Madrid.  Currently £64bn turnover would be bigger than every Premier League club, every La Liga club and every Serie A club added togther by a factor of 3. No wonder Stuart Fleetwood has rejoined!

re: the £64bn turnover - I have to admit I made the same assumption on first reading - if you look closer, that bit's just a working example to advertise the website!

I hate to be the one to mention it, but anything coming out of the club should at least be spell checked first.

The Bury board responded to the article, and the Guardian have responded again:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/nov/13/bury-1m-loan-secured-gigg-lane-repaid-within-weeks

So basically in some parts the board are lying, in in the other parts they've simply stayed silent or labelled it a 'private matter' because they can't come up with a bullsh*t excuse.

They might be the first club to get promoted and start on -10pts at this rate - that's if they still have a ground.

Graham barrows first team coach at everton, but still the best manager we never had

He moved back to Wigan in the summer, and therefore he is now Caretaker Manager. Of course, his fate over the coming week or so remains to be seen.

Uwe Röslers available..

On that note, depending on what (eventually) happens to Graham Barrow, he might be more realistic - or is that very much a ship that's sailed?

I've mentioned a couple of times on other threads about Bury's continual overspending

http://www.theguardian.com/football/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2014/nov/12/bury-high-interest-loans-shadow-recovery

Apparently, the fans have been sticking their head in the sand about this for some time.  The content of that article should make for truly frightful reading.

Wouldn't be surprised if we have a new derby in a couple of years (unless they plummet past us)...

Bury continue to sign players in true 'promotion or administration' style. Rumours a lot of the players are on 'pay as you play' deals?! Can't imagine that being true. Must be some lads up there that fancy a game and to prove a point.

Whilst we're on the subject of the shirts, why the hell couldn't we play in our home kit?

I get that both teams wear striped shirts, however theirs is predominantly green, and ours is predominantly red. Taken together with the shorts, you couldn't glance at them and get confused.

On the highlights in the clubhouse at half time, I noticed much worse clashes on the Saturday.

Not putting up any more excuses for our lot, but I just think you should only change when you absolutely have to. I know the decision probably isn't the club's, but still - I hate having to wear yellow (tbh I liked the aquamarine...)

I think there is a contradiction for Cav in our style of play: he puts his foot on the ball and slows it down, whereas we are most effective when we ping it about at pace.

He therefore has the unfortunate combination of being precisely what we need and also not fitting our style of play

I get what you mean, but Rochdale play the way we do (only better, admittedly) and he captained them to promotion last season!

How many of the 5 new faces that were brought in by Lee in the summer are actually playing an important role in the team? It seems that cavanagh, lauded as one of the best signings we've made in recent seasons by neil tolson has lost his place, steven Gillespie, another that was quoted as having "genuine quality" doesn't play. Ryan crowther is non leagues darren anderton, Sean Williams is a player I like, and I beleive has done well but regularly gets subbed off early in the game. Dave Parton had a couple of appearances and then lost his place. It's seems that the 5 players that we all thought would improve us are now just playing bit part roles at the club. Worrying.

My thoughts exactly.

Yesterday we faced the most important match of our season to date and our two much-heralded/supposed 'marquee signings' Cavanagh and Gillespie made no contribution whatsoever.

I know I bang his drum a lot, but what confuses me the most (and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet) is that Cavanagh was surely signed for games like yesterday - to provide leadership and experience, calm the game down, stick his foot in, make an example - in situations where Lee Sinnott teams have invariably failed (i.e. backs against the wall, showing character).

His omission either highlights that the manager's clueless, or Cav's simply not been coming up with the goods in training.  I suggest a bit of both.

Yep, that was Darlington in 01-02 - after beating Lancaster in R1 following that Poland hat trick in ET of the replay.

Notably, this is the first time we've had a R1 draw as favourable as that...

How much dosh for the train up there are we talking?

Just had a quick look and the nearest station (Cramlington or something) is 4 miles away. It looked like there was going to be little change from £100 there and back, possibly more....

There's a fairly fast bus from Newcastle Haymarket bus station, a better option than train to Cramlington I'd have thought.

For those going by train, depending on how much of a day you want to make of it, you should base yourself around Whitley Bay I reckon. You certainly don't want to be spending much time around Blyth, and you might just get a pleasant day at the seaside!

There is a train from Victoria just before 9am, getting into Newcastle at 11:30ish.  Jump on the Metro to Whitley Bay, and that should see you in the pub by lunchtime.

A cab ride from there to the ground would be roughly 15 mins or so along the coastal road I reckon. Get a cab back into Whitley Bay at FT.

Return train tickets currently around £45, with a few return trains to choose from (depending on how much sticking around and drinking you want to do)

Don't think Leather at left back and bringing Marshall back in is the answer .

Agreed - although we all know that's what Lee's going to do.

I think we need to address this NOW, because splitting up Havern and Leather in winnable games could be disastrous come the end of the season.

I would be surprised if any loan player we got was allowed by his parent club to get cup tied

a good point.
