They get the usual Alty welcome, simple as that. We don't lower ourselves to other people's levels, we'll leave them to do that.

Just make sure their directors wear ties!  ;)

If FCUM ever make it to the conference they will be so outraged by this sort of commercial destruction of the fans game they will have to set up a protest club....

 :D

To be honest, they already sold their non-existent soul when they moved their FA Cup game v Rochdale for the TV a few years ago...

As a fan that only attends home and local away games, the club will gain my revenue in the CSH that they wouldn't have had.

The team might lose a handful of supporters urging them on, but the financial benefits from the Hall that day far outweigh that in my opinion.

Really looking forward to this - the Hall will be buzzing for the entire 90 mins rather than the HT rush.

If an opposing club insisted on suit and tie, then of course I'd respect their wishes, and I'd probably not bleat about it like these lot - we've come to expect it of them I suppose.

HOWEVER...

In the same way that we all accepted we needed to 'evolve' and sell the naming rights to Moss Lane, I suggest the club might want to look at relaxing this moving forward.

On the point of right wingers, Joe Thompson from Bury will be available in the Summer and might be worth keeping tabs on.

Not sure how he got on with Wrexham in his loan spell, but he's just gone to Southport for a bit.

On the recruitment front, take Southport as the other extreme - about to break their record for players used in a season. Their fans are quite frankly sick of it.

Lee has already proven a lot of us wrong that it was indeed probably best to stick to your trusted core from the off, and show a little patience with them.

Yes it might leave us a bit exposed for the time being, but we're relatively safe, we won't reach the playoffs, and whilst the window is open he can simply bide his time and use the wage where it is absolutely most needed.

I thought we started really brightly for the first half hour on Saturday, played some lovely stuff, looked comfortable on the ball, and just about created enough chances (Nicky should have buried his header from where I was sat in the stand, the goal was gaping) - dare I say if we had scored early on that might have been it.

The 'middle 30' was pretty flat and awful, but I thought we built up enough of a head of steam for 5-10 mins to warrant the goal we got.  Last 10 mins was fairly flat as well.

Absolute worldie of a save from Stu, and nice to see we seem to be getting the rub of the green for now, which I believe you make for yourself.

Looking forward to Macc - it's almost a 'free game' (but I never said that, did I?)  ;)

Rochdale off due to frozen pitch - a bit early I think to call it off when the temperature should improve over the weekend :-(

They have their own micro-climate up there, and similarly to Shots last week their opponents (Orient) aren't local and could potentially have been travelling today.

Can't see our own game being in doubt now.

Southport have signed George Donnelly on loan..........recall somebody on here mentioned he was available a few weeks ago........wonder if he was something we considered, although Southport may be a more convenient loan move for him

Yep, it was me.

If you're relying on him to be your main striker, he'll fail miserably as he's not a natural goalscorer HOWEVER he runs himself into the ground, chases lost causes, never gives defenders a moment to settle, helps the ball stay further upfield.

Thought he could be to Reeves what Senior was to Little for example - so it depends on what Southport expect of him.

Agreed , a forward with a bit of pace could really help , doesnt have to be an out and out goalscorer .

George Donnelly is transfer-listed at Tranmere, an ex-Macc lad, they could realistically let us have him for a bit

What he doesn't give you in goals (he's not a natural finisher by any means) he gives you in effort, runs every channel ball, always gives 110% and could be the perfect foil for Damian.

Along with Cav, he was an integral part of the Rochdale side that went up last season

I think he's a very 'Alty' type of player, might be worth an enquiry for a month and see how he gets on

Is Cav definitely out?  I still feel to this day that his absence v Blyth (as well as a number of other factors!) cost us dearly that day.
Definitely out - see Club site.

Thanks

In that case, the team should pick itself (Lawrie straight in for Williams) but LS loves a good tinker...

I think overall he has been an asset to us underrated at times

Put it this way he is no piss taker like twiss was

Yep. Never a lack of effort.

One thing you can't really argue with either is his goalscoring record - he knows where the net is.

I think he's done well when called upon this season (and I've been one of the detractors in the past).

I'd like him to be (and I suspect he will be) retained beyond the end of the season, as begrudgingly(!) I think LS was right keeping the nucleus of the squad together.

On the other hand I can't foresee Gillespie being retained, but things can change over the course of a couple of months - we'll see.  Let's get safe first!

Apparently following GH over to Trafford

Not the most shocking move in the world, but good luck to them both

7 passes to that first goal some of our passing play to feet is excellent at present

If they saw that on MotD from a Prem club they'd be raving about it.

Funny you should mention that - I distinctly remember Sunderland fans being impressed when they came snooping for Duncan footage.

Maybe we could get one of those cameras on a string so we can get a 'POV' angle on a Dens free kick :)
