Altrincham FC First Team / Danny Heffernan
« on: July 22, 2009, 12:35:23 AM »
Thought 'The Heff' did ok tonight - what do others think ?

When he played in the Setanta Shield against Wrexham he looked a little bit lightweight upfront, but he seems to have matured over the last 12 months.

Big day for them tomorrow...........Seems that too many promotions over a short space of time may cost them big style.

Danny Heffernan (ex-Alty reserves, sometime first team squad member / future squad member) has won the Vodcat League Player of the Season for his performances with Abbey Hey (Neil Browns team) last season - well done to him

Altrincham FC First Team / Altrincham and Stuart Pearce

Just reading his autobiography and there are few good Alty references in the book.

Psycho started at Wealdstone aged 17 and mentions playing one of his first games at Moss Lane...he say "you had to learn to look after yourself at places like Altrincham where it was very rough"......I reckon the year would be circa 1979..........he does mention that Alex Stepney was in goal

He later talks of an England trial at Nuneaton where he bemoans not getting picked......he says " mainly because Altrincham had a left back called John Davidson, who quite frankly was better than me"

Altrincham FC First Team / There was no need to worry

A really good season in the end.
We now know that we were actually 'safe' after we beat Weymouth at home in mid March.......safe with 10 games still to play !

It's also ironic that we became 'safe' after we beat Weymouth, whereas last season they were the team we played the day we were relegated.

Great photo of the kids at Moss Lane - happy faces.......some are even smaller than the Cheshire Senior Cup (if it were on its stand) !

Fair play to the staff who gave up their time for this

Altrincham FC First Team / Wrexham : Away fans area
« on: April 08, 2009, 10:31:46 PM »
Went to book online tonight - Website gives various seating options for away fans (stands and paddocks etc)

Does anyone know within which area the away fans usually congregate, as I suspect transfers on the day may not be easy ?

You weren't reffing this one were you !

From the BBC :-

A referee ordered a penalty to be retaken in a Sunday league football game when an opposition player broke wind as the ball was kicked.

The Chorlton Villa player got a yellow card for the noise which was classed as "ungentlemanly conduct".

The team, who conceded a goal on the second take, went on to win the match 6-4 against International Manchester FC at Turn Moss in Stretford, Manchester.

Villa manager Ian Treadwell said their conduct was "normally exemplary".

We are not a dirty team and we like to play football

Chorlton Villa manager Ian Treadwell

"One of our players 'broke wind' and only the referee heard it and he booked the player," he said.

Altrincham FC First Team / Good news for Alty and Vics
« on: March 26, 2009, 02:11:26 PM »
HMRC has adjourned the winding-up meeting into May..............gives Vics time to try and sort stuff out, but more importantly means they cannot be liquidated before the end of the season - thus depriving us of 6 points !!

Liquidation could have been a serious option open to HMRC - and who could blame them considering the amount still owed, the clubs track record on repayments and no obvious viable business plan going forward into Conf North

Altrincham FC First Team / Yankee jackpot now £5100
« on: March 21, 2009, 11:23:46 AM »

As Darren says go and join the yankee - pound per week

Altrincham FC First Team / Tonight's games
« on: February 24, 2009, 07:54:10 PM »
Plenty games on tonight that will be of interest to us.....It will be a good night for us if each fixture 'follows form'

Must say, I never thought Vics would get their game on.............fair play to their many volunteers who have spruced up the ground

Oh - Lewes 2 down after 4 minutes
