Altrincham FC First Team / Crusaders withdraw super league status
« on: July 26, 2011, 05:15:58 PM »
Without telling the players who signed contracts, what does this have to do with alty?  Crusaders owe 700K, secured against wrexhams ground, it seems likely that this was always going to happen, had it happened before july we would still be in the BSP.
Players twitters:
@markbryant81 Mark Bryant
The owners did not even have the backbone to come and speak to the players about why they withdrew their application... #gutless

Altrincham FC First Team / Proven goal scorer?
« on: June 09, 2011, 10:18:56 PM »
The BBC says that "Wrexham have signed striker Jake Speight from Bradford City on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old scored six goals in 36 appearances last season, with one of those goals coming during a short loan spell at Port Vale. Speight was given a 12-week prison sentence for assault in July 2010, shortly after joining Bradford from Mansfield Town for £25,000.

'He's a proven goalscorer', said Wrexham manager Dean Saunders. 'He'll do well for us'... Saunders has been looking to sign a striker since losing last season's top-scorer Andy Mangan to Fleetwood Town in May".

Proven goal scorer? 6 in 36 and some of them were pens?

Altrincham FC First Team / End of an era
« on: April 23, 2011, 09:05:05 PM »
I will be going to Grimsby on Monday and Eastbourne next week to mark the end of an era:-
For all the effort it took in the first place, particularly to Eddie and Val.
For Colin Little and the goals that kept us in it.
For drawing away at Oxford and playing the likes of wrexham and Darlington away.
Greg Young
Chris Senior
James Robinson

I'm sure there is much more but it would be too easy just to be angry about it all.

Altrincham FC First Team / Radio Robins Tech difficulties
« on: April 02, 2011, 07:00:21 PM »
I wanted to just let you know as to the technical side of Radio Robins so far; today as with last tuesday we have streamed direct from the laptop at the game via winamp, as opposed to sending the stream via skype as we did in the first few games.  today we halved the output so that we can avoid the overload that we have experienced when the stream does not connect.
This worked really well today and I don't think listeners noticed the halving.
The problem today was that towards the end of the first half interval I unplugged the mic.  i didnt figure that this would kick the winamp connection off and when I plugged back in we were commentating for over 15mins but it wasn't connected.  Once we worked that out we were able to correct it in about 2mins.  These teething problems must be really irritating for those listening in but its all part of the learning curve.  Please persevere I think were getting there although the lag must be annoying when sky says weve scored before the commentators.
