Dover's appeal can only be an attempt on their part to be removed from the National League as my understanding this ruling is after referral to an independent body? They took unilateral action to stop playing despite all other 22 members of the Division continuing to play on after a vote, including those whose preference was not to continue. You either want to be a member of a club and accept its member's democratically arrived at decisions or you don't.

At the heart of all of this is how a large number of National League member clubs seemed to be under the impression that Govt support was always going to be in the form of grant funding. Given that the 2nd major tranche of support transpired to be primarily loans, but also means tested, suggests that this was never a given. Could it be that Nat League chairs were just a bit too complacent?

Who is Samantha McKenzie please?

Where did she come from and when?

Is she a paid employee?

Partnership Manager is listed as one of these volunteer opportunities advertised in September:

https://www.altrinchamfc.com/news/your-chance-to-play-a-part-in-the-alty-success-story

Confirmation of Samantha's appointment on a voluntary basis in November:

Happy to help as always!

Dagenham & Redbridge seemed both to pass and retain the ball far better than us. You sensed that Wright would score from that free kick after his first-half 'sighter'.

We dearly miss Smith, who has been a huge upgrade on Williams.

Plenty of crosses into their box but our putative strikers simply seem to vanish. It's all so frustrating.

That's seven defeats in our last 10 league fixtures now.

Completely agree. PP and NS's game is all about retaining possession, which without Smith and Kysolo (who does so further up the pitch) we simply didn't do today. D&R were the better team, although on another day those half chances from crosses might've seen us get a win.

Those of a certain vintage will recall one Andy Green.
He was bonkers, the original Mr Angry but he scored goals and disturbed defenders.
You didn't have to know how to wind him up...he came, to use a phrase "oven ready". If you had taken that aggression away he wouldn't have been half the player for us that he was.
Ken McKenna was no shrinking violet either and nor is Kosylo.
If you want the effectiveness you sometimes have to carry the baggage that comes with it

Agreed... see also a certain Mr Hulme.

Rather have players with fire in their bellies than the softies we've had in certain regimes like the Sinnott era, where we played some nice stuff but got steamrolled right down the middle of the park.

Softies in the Sinnott era like Walshaw and Perry?

I don't think there's any doubt that Jordan Hulme, committed to the Alty cause, would give us the goalscoring target man we've been after since the first game of the season. Which was a few days after he left us to play regional football.

Also in the statement its inferred that they had a meeting and refusal to play wasnt raised despite the clubs being there.  I know its a very tough situation but you have a democratic process or you dont.  So in future when all this is done and dusted, is it ok for a club going through financial difficulties to just refuse to play?

Well quite. Not to labour the point, but assuming Fylde aren't deliberately releasing false info', 20 year fixed term finance at 2% with a 4 year payment holiday isn't made available to businesses like NLN football clubs every day. It's equivalent to a repayment mortgage on a house - hardly the financial suicide I've seen quoted. Clubs are essentially saying we're a community asset, our supporters' mental health benefits from seeing their teams in action,  as long as the tax payer cops for the bill 100%. Perhaps we'll see Red Star King's Lynn next year?

Fylde are calling out their Step 2 colleagues' humbug given several are prepared to play in the Trophy this week-end but not the League.

"A joint statement signed by Guiseley AFC was published on Wednesday, 3rd, February, that stated clubs were in support of the re-commencement of the season, ‘but only when there is a fully-funded Covid testing programme in place.... After further discussion, Guiseley AFC informed us that the decision to withdraw from Saturday’s fixture was unrelated to safety and was, in fact, for financial reasons."

"As it stands, two of the teams who are signatories to Guiseley’s joint statement are prepared to play in their FA Trophy fixtures this Saturday, but have the hypocrisy to declare themselves unavailable to fulfil their league fixtures on the following Tuesday."

"We sincerely hope that the National League take a tough line on those taking this stance, as we believe cherry-picking which fixtures to fulfil is bringing the game into disrepute and severely damaging the integrity of the competition."

If anyone is still revelling in the win, like me, their manager is being interviewed on the livestream link as I type. Being very complimentary of us so far.

AFC Fylde in their statement saying they want to continue https://www.afcfylde.co.uk/club-statement-our-views-on-the-current-position/ outline the loans are for 20 years at 2% with a 4 year payment holiday upfront and that they are available to cover players' wages. They can also be used as a hybrid with grants or of course failing that clubs can access 100% grants in cases of extreme hardship.

Surely any Board with a handle on their budget should be able to deal with a fixed interest 20 year repayment loan for half a season's running costs, elite or not.

I won’t be giving Barnet any of my money mainly based on the way they treated some of our fans last time we played there. Horrible club.

Some of us were never given the chance...

The fevered celebrations after Hampson's goal last week don't look that sensible now.

As usual football is just getting a kicking due to it's status as the no 1 sport. If this isn't the case why was Rugby Union allowed to be played at any time during the pandemic with scrums, rucks and mauls all integral parts of the game, involving much more close physical contact than 3 or 4 goal celebrations per game in football? Stringent and regular testing of players is the key point here - imho this should've been tied to the Govt funding package. Instead we have this pathetic distraction tactic from panicked politicians already fearful of the inevitable inquiries into their management of the crisis.

Colin Alty played for Skem United in the mid 70s - I guess there's a good chance he lined up against us?

The Chester Standard 30th April 2019

" Former Chester manager Neil Young has vowed to stay on as boss at Merseyside non leaguers Marine despite their shock relegation from the NPL Premier Division. The Crosby-based outfit suffered the first relegation in the club's 125 year history with a 2-0 defeat at Farsley Celtic"

Even when we're at home we're away. All logical, but underlines the pitch issue requires major capital investment not maintenance, imho should take priority over ground redevelopment if a choice has to be made spend wise.
