In their defence it's absolutely not their decision to make, as they don't own the ground - it's the council's, who don't give a crap about them.

That's not a defence, and it certainly isn't worthy of a professional entity with ambitions to be taken seriously as a potential member of the Football League. The RL Club have been tenants at The Shay since 1998, 10 years before AFC Halifax came into existence in 2008 following the demise of Halifax Town FC. The new phoenix club chose to become tenants with the RL club and this kind of issue was bound to arise sooner or later. As such they should've made forward provision, they clearly haven't. Too easy to 'blame the Council' - take some responsibility.

Still too early to predict final points totals required as all teams seem to be dropping points bar Halifax who are now having to play catch up games wise. Also given Bromley, Solihull and Gateshead are all involved in the Trophy semi finals there will continue to be more than a few twists and turns to come. Of the play off contenders only Barnet and Gateshead currently have a better GD than us and that could be a big factor come 20th April.

Yes thanks for reminding me I was a glutton for punishment as an 11 year old - I remember that Boston game as well. A vivid memory was the pre-match military brass band music, it must've been the last year as the next season I recall as a ball boy taking the field to K-Tel versions of Status Quo's Mean Girl  and the like.

As a ballboy we used to get changed into our navy blue 'AFC' tracksuits in Jack Thorpe's hut where there was a stash of old 60s home programmes, where we couldn't believe crowds of up to 7,000 a matter of 5 or 6 years previously. What a come down for Noel White and the Board it must've been to be playing in front of less than 700 vs Kirkby Town...

Fantastic clippage action there UA. I went to every game of the run - if it wasn't for a magnificant last minute tip over from Tommy Cavanagh it might've ended at the first hurdle on a murky Cumbrian afternoon. So may great memories, Ian Morris's cross that went in to equalise vs Matlock, going behind against Winsford to come roaring back in the quarter final and yes that 2nd leg at Canal Street which tested the powers of keeping emotions under wraps of quite of a few of us as you say. Keep it coming!

I think you're all confusing York's new owners 394 Sports Ltd, otherwise known as the Billionaire Ugglia family, who bought out Glenn Henderson in June this year - he was universally reviled. Although mother Julia co-chairs with her son Matt it is he who seems to take charge of day to day affairs. They have a chequered history with football, Google their name and Yeovil. I live locally and as they've already pumped in something like £1m on the squad I'd say they're still pretty popular and a few City fans I know were desperate for the manager to go. All a bit playing Football Manager at the moment though, so the next appointment will make be interesting viewing.

Well I've been watching Alty for nearly 40 years, have had season tickets and seen the worst moments and I think this is fantastic news. Well done to everyone involved. I'll tell you what's happened, and it's not about ignoring the old time fans.

It's been about looking outwards and forwards, not relying on the old boys or recruiting and appealing for help from within all the time.

Revamping the digital and commercial side, the Puma kit deal, being more visual in the town, doing the community stuff. It all adds up, and there is no doubt in my mind that it contributed to the the investment.

There's still work to be done - seat stickers and late season tickets shouldn't be overlooked - but give me this Alty now over plenty of Altys in the past.

Couldn't agree more Bob. As a founder member of SAFE and printer of those t-shirts for its launch at the Civil Service club nearly 30 years ago, to being involved in the process where Kingy's non voting shares were made available for purchase, it's fair to say we've all earned the right to be sceptical of false dawns.

This is no false dawn, it's Back to the Future not Hans Christien Andersen b23. A 1960s re-boot where local business people are investing serious cash into the club for the first time in 40 odd years. As I see it, it's strength is the number and diversity of players involved and will likely attract more who want to be part of a successful operation.

When Noel White and Peter Swales took over an ailing Altrincham FC bottom of the Cheshire League their ambition was to see our club in the Football League and they got the local business community to buy into that vision. The current Board has emulated them and shares that ambition, we should too.
