Ebbsfleet Match Thread

Assume Baines is out and we will play
4-2-3-1

             Ross

Banks. Cooper.  Jones.  Golden

         Wilson.  Crawford

Reddin.   Newby.     Amaluzor

        Bickerstaff

Could play Eddy Jones and move either Banks or Golden up and bomb Crawford

Alty 1-0 Ebbsfleet

Big game, need 3 points. Think Linney in for Reddin. EJ at LB and Banks at RB. COYR

With two tough looking long distance southern aways coming up, then we really need to win this one.Team is hard to judge. Wilson has definitely played his way in & decisions to be made at full back & on the wings. It?s really a game where our run of not scoring more than one goal in a game this season could do with ending too. Bickerstaff to get off the mark would be handy.

Ebbsfleet have struggled but their away record is a thrashing at Gateshead, a narrow defeat at Yeovil & a point at Braintree & it?s stlll very early days.

All that said our last two we drew with Oldham & should have drawn at FGR. Therefore this will be a home win & hopefully a few goals, 3-1 Alty I reckon. Gate with the international break & no United/City hopefully around 2000 but reckon around 1850 with ooh 70 away fans.

Would start the strongest 11 available and go for the much needed 3 points .

                        Ross

Golden.      Cooper.     J.Jones.    E.Jones

     Osborne/Crawford.  Wilson

Reddin.           Newby.         Amaluzor

                       Linney

Bickerstaff to come off the bench. Linney has more to his game.

Guessing Baines will be out.

Would 100% be starting Bickerstaff; the lad looks very sharp.

I still think the wingers should play the other way round, much like Parky has preferred during his tenure.

Our customary mixed start to the season doesn't change that in my opinion, especially only a few games in.

Kharel Reddin is much better off the bench at this stage of his career - coming on against tired full backs that someone like Regan has roughed up a bit. He'll get plenty of starts when we have to rotate a bit.

This by the bucket load. He's not Duncan Watmore, he needs setting up for long term success not thrown to the lions because there is a panic.

Saying that today I would let him go from the off. Ebbsflee have looked very shaky so far and I think we could absolutely raid them early on with ease.

a mid/top half team though he's a season/half a season away from starting. If Ethan could get him in the gym it could be sooner!

The proof is in the pudding with George Wilson - and the likes of Toby Mullarkey prior to that. He'll be on a very specific development plan with Parky and we have to trust that'll pay dividends further down the line.

He'd never started a game in competitive football before joining us, we have to remember that.

If we're one down tomorrow or goalless, he'll be a great asset off the bench - if he makes a difference I'm sure people will be like 'why wasn't he on from the start' - but football doesn't work like that.

I wouldn't say it is throwing him to lion's. He is 20 years old, not a kid and ex-Stoke player.

If you're good enough, then you should play.

Playing Linney with Bickerstaff is definitely the way to go, especially for home games. Nothing else really matters if we can't score.
Strange how the Joe Nuttall fan club seems to have melted away!

Do we think the loan signing from Salford will go straight in at number ten?

Make no bones about it, Ebbsfleet were awful - but if they've helped us into a bit of form, I don't care.

To a man we were excellent - aside from Ethan Ross who had nothing to do, but especially Eddy Jones and Jake Cooper who have both had tricky starts to the season but both of them were excellent.

Ozzy probably won't be given as much space again all season but some of his passing was sumptuous and I thought Humbles had a really exciting cameo - he has a great touch and that ball into Kharel Reddin for the fourth goal was absolutely brilliant.

Regan Linney, Alex Newby - top quality - we just need a goal for Justin who hasn't quite got it going yet - and the same for Jake Bickerstaff really.

Perfect afternoon.

Justin needs to keep running after he loses possession to get it back. When he is on it he is great but the moment he loses the ball his head goes down and he could be overtaken by a sbail.

However great performabce all round today and just what was needed for everyone after some tough resiults thus far. Great up front with plenty of shots from outside the box rather than passing it about. Defence looked strong.
Well done all - toughie Tuesday night

A Good team performance against a poor Ebbsfleet but you can only beat what is in front of you. The early goal gave us the upper hand early on and we kicked on from that.

It?s bought our poor goal difference back to a decent level, Regan deserved the MoM award, but plenty of good cameos from the subs which was very good to see.

Good to see CCC prior to the game,

Well done to the lads and backroom staff.

They were just the team we needed after our recent difficulties. If we?d been clinical it would have been about 7-0. Lovely finish by Linney for the opener & then after that we were able to relax. This was the Alty of last season. Two tough games ahead mind. Crowd was excellent too, back to the 2k home fans standard.
