Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Table position
« on: Yesterday at 02:37:37 PM »
Looking like it's 4 from 5 of ourselves , Oldham , Gateshead , Halifax and Rochdale for positions 4-7.
Other than Fax the rest are dropping loads of points whilst we're motoring. Hand on heart and hoping for a mega end to the season , Alty forever 🥰

According to Mark Ives of the National League on Talksport earlier the vote at the Agm is league two voting only.We know what that would mean also need 75 %

« on: January 29, 2025, 06:45:10 PM »
The old Bedford Town were one of the Southern League leading lights before going bust in the 1970s .  They reached rhe 4th round of the cup in 64 and 66 beating the likes of Newcastle away and Brighton.  I remember their game v Everton in 66 being televised with over 18,000 at the Eyrie .  They were regularly chasing FL status and back then higher up the pecking order than Wigan and others !
Since then there have been many top non league clubs who have either bitten the dust or almost disappeared down the pyramid , remember the likes of Romford , Kingstonian , Enfield , Kettering , Worcester , Telford , Stafford , Nuneaton Boro , Bangor , Runcorn and Vics of course.   We had great battles with most of those back in the day ,famous non league clubs with long and proud histories . not so with the  likes of Salford, Crawley, Harrogate , Bromley , Rushden etc , who came from nowwhere and bought their pass nto the promised land.  Talk about being in the right place.....

Warm welcome to new signing Regan Griffiths , a midfielder who has joined us from Marine.  Previously Regan played 41 times for Crewe.
Good luck and hope you enjoy your time with Alty Regan.

There has kinda been the exact opposite of radio silence... Bill said in his interview on Radio Alty that we will be installing more modern new seats, and a roof... on the away end. So we're making plans to give the stand with the best view in the ground to away fans, give them a roof without supporting beams no doubt, and modern seating...

Call me old fashioned but we would be better served making sure people want to come back for a second game a few weeks later rather than giving a toss whether Harry Halifax and Oli Oldham want to come next season again.

This is one of those "f**k the regular patrons - there is a few extra quid to be made each season" situations. Not only that, but I expect adding a roof on to that stand will cost some good will with the residents of the apartments as well. It might even be held up much longer than doing the pop side would be.

If we could add 100 extra home regulars because they can sit and see the whole of the pitch, or stand and not be separated by weird fences when trying to sing. We would be financially much better off each season than hoping we get a few extras in twice a season buying a beer or two more than before.

I'm sick of this board making penny pinching decisions at the cost of the club. All while splashing the cash on the squad. It's all good and well taking advantage of the stadium improvement grants the FL hands out... Holding off spending until we're promoted is a f**king pipedream when we're bleeding ?1m every year trying to get there... with clearly reduced revenue streams while we wait for things to click in to place.

We've lost 300 off our average attendance since the post covid boom btw... I wonder what has stopped them from returning when we're playing the best football we've played in decades, if not ever.

Didn't know about Bill's comments but what he said beggers belief tbh.  A pretty much bang on appraisal  of the situation and it does seem the club have their priorities more than a bit unbalanced re the fans.

Turning the clock back to 1968 when i started out on my magical Alty ride,  the Main Stand had wooden benches but that was ok , really good access from both sides, plenty of room to stretch out the legs etc, good view of the pitch from all areas top to bottom, snack bar to the side stacked with goodies (those pies were the best) , and both Ladies and Gents toilets round the back.  It was'nt the best atmosphere tbh but definitely a worthy match day experience for those wishing to sit down .  Fast forward 57  years........

Come April it will be 5 years since the stadium redevelopment plans were revealed and unless iv'e missed it there has not been a single word issued in all this time by way of an update despite all the many fans voicing their opinions about many parts of the ground. I prefer to sit in the stand despite the discomfort but i am ok mobility wise but i do sympathise with the many i see having difficulties and i do wonder how many don't come anymore because of this , then of course there is  the visibility issue that Saughall mentioned recently (where is the club squeegee).  Anyhow only another 5 years at most left of sitting sideways like many others before time runs out on the 10 year plan (or me) !!!

Everton x 2 , Liverpool , Spurs x 3 , Brum , Wembley x 3 etc etc . 2 Alliance titles , cheated out of FL status . Two decades full of magical memories for all Alty fans .
Everton finished 4th that season , 3 points behind Cloughies champions Derby yet we battled them toe to toe over 180 minutes, indeed in all 7 games against top tier clubs we never once looked out of our depth.

Yes they were top when they won here but we were the better side and they did'nt impress imo and thought at the time that they would not stay up there too long.   I take us to progress to the last eight.

Provided we do get this drier forecast weather running up to the weekend, Barnet shouldn't be an issue.

Well hopefully, the pitch won't be an issue ... Not so sure about Barnet! 😊

Here's hoping we will be Friern Barnet under the hot sun. 🤞

Shame if it gets postponed as I was planning to go.
Can see the positives in a postponement, like Cult has pointed out, but would be disappointing as it would have been only my second visit to Spotland (the first being, if I recall correctly, November 1965) by the way, was that our last win there? 😊
'Lest we forget', Rochdale 3 Oldham 2 1971 Lancs county cup final.  2 Alty devotees and 7,000 ecky thumpers present.

Come Jan it will be 30 years since our last 3rd Round appearance , it's 9 years since we had a League club at ML. The competition may well be devalued these days but oh how we've missed those magic cup days from the previous 20 + .

Bang on mate. The point of the fans forum is to engage in discussion on all things Alty not to use it as some kind of Eastenders spin off !  Anyhow with the latest score 5-2 for pages of comments on this comp v first X1 games maybe we should blow the final whistle 🤔
