Altrincham FC First Team / Oldham (A)
« on: February 10, 2025, 09:02:38 PM »
Very tough assignment this one. Would take a point before KO as we seem to be down to the bare bones.

                                      ?

Banks              Olson              Baines            Golden

                Osborne                   Crawford

Justin/Crankshaw?         Newby                    Weaver

                                  Linney

I?m sure Oldham will be as clueless as me as to our lineup

                               Ross

Banks          Cooper          Baines           Golden

                  Wilson           Osborne

Kosylo                    Newby                  Linney

                            Weaver

Play on the front foot with a fast tempo for 90 mins and don?t sit off if we take the lead

Have I missed something? Are these two still with us? Not seen or heard of them for months

Altrincham FC First Team / Dropping Points
« on: September 11, 2024, 10:32:22 AM »
It would be interesting to know the exact details how many times we take the lead and surrender it opposed to kicking on and getting another goal. The psychology of it probably means that surrendering the lead/not protecting a draw sticks in the memory more due to the nature that you lose points from winning positions.

I understand there?s far more to it than just the way PP and the team go about things and the other team want to win just as much as us but I can?t help but think Parky?s negative tactics don?t help things. First half last night we were in control of the game for the vast majority of the half with the play deep in the Barnet half. Contrast that with the second half and we rarely got into their half. This must come from the coaching staff. Newby, Linney and Humbles were our best three players last night and they were all brought off. At the point the ball went out for their throw in, the players on the pitch were far more defensive minded than the players that started the game.

Trying to defend a lead/protect a point does not work for us at the moment and I think the possession based ?philosophy? is counter productive for defending a lead/point. With the exception of Pep and Man City no team are capable of keeping a team at bay by playing out from the back. If we are going to protect a point then when we get the ball it needs clearing as far from our goal as possible. It?s not pretty no but sometimes you need to win ugly. I can?t remember a time when we have won ugly.

The set piece thing has been done to death and it seems the club has every off field position covered apart from a set piece coach. Maybe the budget won?t cover it but surely one of the coaching staff can go on a course or add another string to their bow. We are like a Sunday league team in both boxes from set pieces.

I wish PP wasn?t so stubborn with the possession based football and was more bold with the tactical changes in-game. Yes Banet and Ebbsfleet are totally different animals but we took the lead in both games and dominated the play for 45 mins in both games. The psychology of playing the second half has to be the same for both games. ?Happy with a point?, ?it?s a good point away from home? shouldn?t come into it. We should aim to win and do everything we can to win games of football.

Credit where credit is due, we are worlds apart from where we were when PP came in I?m just a little concerned that we might be starting to stagnate and not learning some very simple lessons from games.

Altrincham FC First Team / Wilson
« on: August 26, 2024, 04:57:11 PM »
Firstly I?ll say fair play to Phil for swapping Osborne with Wilson.

Secondly, the last 25 mins of that game has shown that Wilson MUST partner Crawford until Marriot is back. Wilson moves the ball quickly and is 100% more positive on the ball than Osborne. And he scores the occasional goal

Altrincham FC First Team / Pre Season Injuries
« on: August 04, 2024, 08:36:03 AM »
The top players we couldn?t afford to lose to injury would be Ross, Baines and Linney and it seems the latter two are out injured. Does anyone know how long they will be out?

Kossy missing yesterday too he?s looked very sharp and Nuttall limped off too.

Not ideal really. Hope they are back soon or we will be loaning another striker asap

Altrincham FC First Team / New Home Kit

Looks as though AO have had a big hand in it. Shame the red and white stripes don?t continue down the shirt it might have looked slightly better. Not a fan of it. Away one for me this season

Altrincham FC First Team / Joe Nuttall

Signed on a season long loan. Decent pedigree but not the best scoring rate. Hopefully he can bang them in for us. Welcome Joe

Altrincham FC First Team / Ethan Ross

Immense today and deserves a special mention. Had we had Byrne in nets we’d have lost. If there’s the money please buy him now and make the loan permanent

Altrincham FC First Team / Goalkeeper

Please please please can we have a new one. Byrne and Gould are not good enough for the league below let alone a playoff push like we keep being promised by PP.

Admit you got it wrong with Byrne and get someone new in NOW!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Not Good Enough At This Level
« on: January 28, 2023, 07:42:52 PM »
Of the players that played today I’ve put where I think we’d finish in the league with them in the team. Some of them just aren’t up to it unfortunately

Byrne - relegation battle
Welch-Hayes - playoffs
J Jones - bottom half
Baines - mid table
E Jones - mid table
Marriott - playoffs
Lundstram - playoffs
Kaja - bottom half
CCC - playoffs
Gyasi - bottom half
Hulme - relegation battle

Dinanga - bottom half
Pringle - mid table

This guy deserves all the praise. Week in week out he carries the team and is a pleasure to watch. Certainly wouldn’t begrudge him a move in January, he’s far too good for us.

Altrincham FC First Team / Half Time
« on: November 01, 2022, 11:14:49 PM »
Whatever is said at half time to the players isn’t working. We have conceded 7 goals now in the first 5 minutes of the second half (Boreham Wood, Chesterfield x2, Solihull, Notts County, Torquay and now Wealdstone).

The start of each half the players should have clear instructions of what needs to be done. Parky clearly isn’t up to it in this league tactically

Altrincham FC First Team / Scunny Post Match Interview
« on: September 14, 2022, 08:48:51 PM »
Just listened to this and is Parky and the interviewer taking the p*ss out of us. Do they honestly think there were ‘lots of positives’ to take from that last night.

‘We are all working hard all week’ ‘this lad wants to do well and works hard’ f*ck off!! The players PP has got in aren’t good enough, simple as. They can work as hard as they want but they are not up to it at this level.

Stop treating us like idiots Parky
