I was reading in our local Paper that Scott Rogers (their Striker)is hoping Newport County do not go full time as he would like to stay with the club when they play in the Conferance. If i remember correctly the old Newport folded because of Debts, these clubs never learn.

If, however, when they come up they keep getting crowds of 4000+ (as i think it was at the weekend) and can sustain full time football then fair enough. I wouldn't join the knee jerk club though and go full time just because they are in the conference premier. If after the first year it seems like a viable option then fair play I think. I don't know their history of attendances and stuff but if that's the type of crowd they can draw, and do continue to draw then its not like another tin pot team getting 400 each week going full time...

THAT sort of figure will soon vanish if they're not successful. Only a couple of seasons ago, their average gate was around 1,000, and they're in a traditional rugby area.

True about the rugby area. And fair enough about the crowds, as i said, wasn't sure about them. Thats why, if it was me, I'd wait until the end of the first season and see where they are then and then maybe look at going full time

My Mam's brother lived in Newport.
One of my cousins played Rugby Union for Newport the other is a football fanatic but follows Man U.
So neither of them watch Newport County
