I remember Chris as centre forward for the 1st.XI at Alty Grammar, he being two years older than me. His co-striker, Kenny Maughan, played a few games for the Robins in the mid 60's.

Formula 1 racing driver or American Governor?

So I said to the Mrs, "What state was Sarah Palin the governor of?"
She said "Alaska"
So I said, "Can't you just look it up on t'internet?"

This is the Chris Jones you were listening to this afternoon (he is the brother of Phil Jones who helps out at Alty & uncle of Dan who is Sarah Rowley's boyfriend).

Chris Jones (footballer born 1945)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chris Jones
Personal information
Full name   Christopher Martin Nigel Jones
Date of birth   November 19, 1945 (age 64)
Place of birth      Altrincham, England
Christopher Martin Nigel "Chris" Jones (born November 19, 1945 in Altrincham, Cheshire, England) is an English former footballer. He now teaches at Tadcaster Grammar School.[citation needed]
[edit]Career

Jones started his professional career with Manchester City in May 1964. Though he played regularly in the reserves, finishing top scorer for three seasons running,[1] he did not make his league debut until December 1966, when he deputised for Mike Summerbee in a match against Nottingham Forest. A week later he scored his first senior goal, against West Bromwich Albion.[2] The following season he made two appearances in Manchester City's 1967–68 League Championship winning side,[3] though his contribution was insufficient to gain a winners' medal. He later had a prosperous career with York City scoring 33 goals in 95 games. He played during York City's greater days playing in Division 2(Championship) and remembers playing in front of overcrowded Bootham Crescent and against late great Bobby Moore and Gordon Banks. [4]
[edit]Life After Football

Chris Jones currently works at Tadcaster Grammar School as Supply Manager. He is a cult hero with students and sometimes teaches R.E or P.E. He is also co-commentator on BBC Radio York with Al Ross and commentates on York City.

my daughter goes to Taddy Grammar, I will have this checked out...
