How fit will players be for next game
« on: January 06, 2010, 01:04:49 PM »

I assume they are training in some way but must be difficult to arrange sessions in this weather.

Will we be worse off than other teams - full time team or those in the south?

I think all we can do is put a positive spin on the situation:

Any players with injuries/knocks (with the exception of Dale Johnson) should be fully recovered. Also, the squad have now had a chance to recharge their batteries a bit during the layoff.

So, in conclusion, the whole situation is a disgrace. Heathcote out!

I am sure our players are dedicated enough that they will be visiting their local gyms or something like that, thye just won't be able to practice all the set pieces etc, but then everyone else will be the same.

I'd like to think that was true, but judging by the state of a 15lb overweight Michael Welch it seems some players simply need training and matches in order to get fit.

To be fair to Michael, he didn't have any pre-season due to his ankle operation and I doubt he'll be able to get anywhere near full fitness this side of summer. I do agree though, there is a major difference between being physically fit and being "match fit".

I think there's a fair chance even Dale Johnson could be fit by the time Altrincham play again.
