Exactly Cult, but the kudos and excitement of our halcyon years in the cup remains with me, despite themuch needed cash. Not looking great though is it!

Same here Steve, I remember when we just expected to be in the THIRD round, let alone the first!

Too true Simon, we were spoilt in our youth I guess.

Indeed.

Just three wins in our last 11 FA Cup ties is a far cry from the glory days of the late 1970s/early 1980s.

Harold,

I'm sorry....but I have to say that outlook is just nonsense.

Who says that you can't do well in both competitions?

£12,500 at stake for the winners today - money that I'm sure GH would find rather useful in bolstering his depleted squad.

Yes we had a few defeats in the early to mid 70's Rotherham being one, Halifax another I recall.
Its significant that we pick these out against the usual wins against the lower league sides. My first was Hartlepool, but I remember the home replay win against SC**thorpe (first time) like it was yesterday  afternoon.

Notts County at home was gutting, undeserved heartbreak for a youngster who thought at the time football was all there was in life.
