Late, late goals.
« on: October 22, 2009, 11:49:23 PM »

Just back from Fulham v AS Roma.....my son supports Fulham.....which finished 1-1. Roma's equaliser has been officially timed at 90+2:57. 3 mins added time were displayed.

Now I remember all too well the drama of the FA Cup 1st round tie v Southport which ended 4-3 back in 79, but what other late late drama games can people remember.

Also, if anyone has the number of a good counsellor in my area, my son appears to need one after tonight  :-\

As recent as our game v Gateshead when we scored 2 goals in injury time to win 3-2  Danylyk 2, Denham 90(+3), Doughty (pen) 90(+6)

It took a while for my voice to recover from this game, but we also did the same to Gateshead a few years before (in the Unibond I think) when Mark Ward got an injury time pen for us.

That game proved what a waste of time those extra officials are. After the penalty the extra official told the referee who commited the offence, he was 5 yards away and got it wrong, after the Fulham players response he decided to send the 'right' player off. What a mess.

Ricky Harris v Hyde United in 1999. We had gone a goal behind, but Paul Robertson scored directly from a corner before Bomber won it for us deep into injury time.

Then there was the 3-2 v Southport in 1994/95 - that was first round too wasn't it? Paul France headed at winner at the Golf Road end at sometime after 4:50.

Also, didn't we score 2  late goals away at Southport in a midweek game in the mid-90s to win 2-1. Am sure that Mick Carmody scored one of them.

Kieran Lugsden at Grays in our first season back in the Conference. Latest Alty goal ever?

Last Season against Stevenage at Home when Roberts (The Blonde Bombshell) scored the winner with virtually the last kick of the match. :(

Thanks for that, we were right down the other end and nobody was sure what went on. We actually thought the 6th official had corrected the referee! It looked as if Hangeland was carded initially, how can you mix those two up, Hangeland is about a foot taller!

Bit of a bizarre one but in fact the only one that sticks in my mind. Somewhere in the mid 90's when King came back and we went from relegation fodder to worlds best.

1-0 v Yeovil, Free kick in 94th minute or something like that. I remember walking away believing that John King had some kind of voodoo power over the players and we were now unstoppable.

Talbs V Barrow in the FAT at home 2004/5(?)ish to give us a 1-0 win.
Talbs V Southport to pull us back to 1-1 away, around 2006 if i remember correctly

And who can forget...Joe O'Neill V Northwich, The Dukes infamous "If we score from this corner i'll buy everyone that can hear me a pint" (and he still owes everyone that could hear him as well...)

Southport game is a legend but the goals were not actually that late:

0-1 Nolan `9 mins 22 secs
0-2 Dewsnip 13 mins 39 secs
1-2 Johnson 38-55
2-2 Bailey 44-49
3-2 Johnson 75-52
3-3 Whittle  88-16
4-3 Johnson 90-12

A total of 2 mins and 23 secs injury time was played

Mossley on the other hand

0-1 O'Keefe 9-01
0-2 pollitt 40-23
1-2 Davison 30-33
1-3 O'Keefe 42-57
1-4 Skeete 64-37
Sendings Off Allen 76-43, O'Keefe 77-50
2-4 Heathcote 79-21
3-4 Johnson 88-41
4-4 King 91-56
5-4 King 93-49
4 mins and 38 secs of injury time

The latest goal at Moss lane has to be in the Marcus hallows match against Ashton: about 10 mins into injury time?
