FA Cup 4th qualifying round
« on: October 10, 2009, 08:52:15 PM »

So who do we all fancy in the draw?

I'd love Vics or FC Halifax.

Vics - obvious win over Chorley today (4-1)
Halifax beat Burscough after beating Droylsden in the 2nd qualifying round...

If Staylbridge stay in Id love them. Nice picturesque ground, and not too far.

I'd like The Pelican third team, especially if a few of them have flu, we need to get in among the bigger sides and hopefully pick up some cash.

Stalybridge, Jesus Christ, they'd be just about the last team I'd want, 1999 still brings me out in a cold sweat...You also know who would be BOUND to score in that game

Don't tell me that they have re-signed Martin Filson.......?

Very fat, no discernible talent but awful to play against. Like Matt Redmile at Tamworth.  Cult, take your pick it could be him coming out of retirement to haunt us, or a Warren Peyton screamer or maybe hot shoe Joe O'Neill. The Bower Fold is to be avoided, no give me the worst team left in, I would say at home but actually away would probably suit us more these days.

Is the 4th qual a straight North/south split rather than North/midlands/south east/south west?
Assuming North/South the clubs to choose from would be (depending where the geographic split is made);
(North)
Fleetwood
Northwich
Buxton or Bradford PA
Guiseley or Kendal
Workington
Alfreton or Southport
FC Halifax
Lincoln utd or Frickley
Ilkeston or Eastwood
FC utd or Stalybridge
Salford City or Blyth
Barrow
York
Wrexham
Chester
Gateshead
(Midlands)
Hinckley
Redditch
Stourbridge or Hucknall
Bury town or Bedford
Bedworth
Lowestoft or Sutton Coldfield
AFC Telford or Worcester
Nuneaton
Tamworth
Kidderminster
Kettering
Mansfield
Rushden
(Cambridge Utd?)

Any lower division team at home would suit me fine. Having said that, our away form is good so I would fancy our chances against most sides.

It looks like we've lost Chris Senior for the FA Cup but at least Colin Little is back now and hopefully Denham's injury wasn't too serious. I presume Doughty will only serve a one match ban and will therefore be back for the cup.

A good cup run would be a financial miracle for our club and could really help us push for a high league finish as welll as a run in the FA Trophy.

Bradford Park Avenue would be good. I remember them being rated the worst team ever to play league football. Kendal away would be another good game, the bar with the giant screen is the best i have seen in non league football and i can stock up on mint cake again. But i have a feeling FSCUM will be visiting Moss Lane again.

Sounds a decent game! I may take in the replay as i reckon we'll draw the winner of this one.
