Chesterfield just took part in the "crossbar Challenge" shooting towards the Alty end where we all squinted to see Keithy "Biggest ever signing" Russell haul us back in to the Unibond Cup final!

It was the also the end that Bernard passed the Trophy over to me to hold whilst I gave my match report to my brother in Edinburgh on the old mobile.

"Did we win?"

"I'm holding the trophy now"

A great night  ;D I remember Danny Adams getting sent off and Keith Russell's two goals. Bernard Taylor made a habit of passing a trophy around, anyone remember the Cheshire cup final win over the Vics (97-98 I think) the 30 or 35 or 38 years old Phil Power scoring.

Was that at Whitton's ground?

Yes you'r right, a rainy tuesday night with Alty fans behind the goal, we feared the worse when bomber went off injured. Some devalue the Cheshire cup although I always enjoy it, I loved the semies with Runcorn 0-2 at home then 3-0 away with Chris Sharratt scoring the winner, we celebrated like we'd won the world cup sad I know ! ;D
