I really fail to see why the losing finalists should receive £900,000 when smaller clubs are having their rewards for winning matches slashed!

The FA have got their heads jammed up their arses as usual!

Looking at a much, much bigger picture which, fortunately, doesn't involve us the money for sides who might not even reach the point where we come in hasn't been adversely affected by the loss of Setanta Sponsorship. This may well go some way toward helping to ensure  the survival of some clubs which has to be good for the game don't you think?

It would have been really easy for the FA to have cut the prize money for the qualifiers as most people, not giving a stuff, wouldn't have noticed. So maybe their heads aren't jammed quite so far up their arses???

I think you've missed my point entirely.

Maybe, maybe not.

I fully understand that it's ridiculous that the losing Finalists (who probably don't actually NEED) the money get that much so if that's your point then I haven't missed it.

I also understand that a run to the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Round of the Cup and the Revenue it generates is absolutely invaluable to the Clubs who do achieve that and I'll agree that chopping that Prize Money is at best a very poor decision.

I do however think that I made a valid point about the Clubs who will start next weekend or the one after in something like the second extra preliminary qualifying round.

So, yes the FA have misjudged things but maybe they haven't shoved their heads as far as you suggest?

It seems to me we're talking at crossed purposes. What you're saying is not wrong, it's just a different point from the one I was making.

If the loss of Setanta revenue means a drop in prize money it is totally unfair to only take away the earlier rounds which benefitted. It surely means that the FA are subsidising the later rounds (somehow) in order to stop bigger clubs losing out.

That's just plain wrong to me.
