Pete Carroll getting his gut out and exposing the same to the spurs fans at the end of our last visit to White Hart Lane. Never forgotten that wonderful sporting moment - still have bleedin' nightmares about it.

Geoff Hursts 3rd goal, Stuart Pearce's Euro 96 pen, Bob Champion coming in on Aldaniti, Ali and our Henry. Alex Higgins crying holding daughter after world championship win. England rugby photo of Fran Cotton mud splattered waiting for a line out. Jack Peat's car parked outside WHGS swimming baths......one for Gazelle among others on here.

On the crying theme, Gazza 90 too.

Standing ovation to D. Redmond's pride
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDsigCRtoyg

I defy you not to shed a tear at the character, guts, skill, determination, sportsmanship, pride & passion of athletes like Redmond, Ali and so many of those named in this thread.

Sport brings out the best in the elite few.

Re: Flintoff and Lee:

One of the most enduring images of sportsmanship I have ever seen, but what said to Lee was actually anything but, as revealed here:

Greg Norman was not a fan of Faldo's until this: It was Faldo who, having annihilated Norman's hopes of winning the Masters, said very little, just that he wanted to give him a hug. Its easier to be a good loser that a good winner - Faldo surprised many by becoming a good winner.

And if you can get the writing of this and it was a bit bigger it would be brilliant.

One of the best moments in rugby, made even better that it was against the Auzzie's in their own back yard!

No Usain Bolt, Dan Marino, Pele or Jackie Swindells here, but I think some of the following have sporting merit...

Pete Carroll fielding during a spontaneous cricket match in a Wensleydale field, circa 1979.

Pete Carroll preparing for a water pistol duel with Phil Hall on the site of the aforementioned cricket match.

Pete Carroll losing a water pistol duel with Phil Hall.

Confirmation of a soggy defeat.

A paragon of elegance... Mr Carroll graces the Lodge Corner grandstand at Oulton Park.
