Why we need to score the first goal....

Worrying statistic:

This season to date, we have yet to win a Blue Square Premier league match when the opposing team has scored the opening goal.

Equally though, we've yet to lose a league game when we've scored the opening goal. Nigel Clough's comments on this subject last week seemed pretty astute to me.

If the opposition scores more that you - you always lose - and that is since the game was invented

I've checked the records and following our 5-5 draw at home to Witton Albion in 1967, both sides only appear to have been awarded one point!
