The most chilling in more ways than one was the game at Morecombe in the snow and freezing wind all those years ago. I think after the match it kicked off as well.

Quote
Mine was stood in a pub in Tottenham singing were simply the best by Tina Turner which (if i remember correctly) Jimmy put on and we changed the words to incorparate Alty.

At the end of the song a Tottenham fan informed us that if we had been any team but Alty we would all be lying in a pool of our own blood and wished us luck
I was in that pub that day, had gone down on my own, was working away, saw a load of Alty fans going into a boozer, thought OK must be alright, went through the door and you could cut the atmos with a machette, but as Wayno says alls well.
I also remember exiting Maineroad after the Spurs replay, straight into the Spurs fans, i was wearing a bobby hat me mum had knitted and a red and white scarf, they thought i was a Man U fan, when i explained that i was actually from Alty i was hoisted up onto there shoulders and cheered, christ i thought i was off to North London. !st time i realised adrenaline was Brown and Smelly.

Two games that stick out are Bradford Park Avenue away 2-1 (Thornley scores late late late on)
and also Bamber Bridge away when they scored an own goal (first time I ever went on the pitch at a game)

BPA away for me too

Barry Howard's goal vs Sheff Utd.
Stood on the grass mound next to the main stand and watching the ball as it curved right into the net at the 'Red Robin Club' end!

I'll have to relate one or two of the New Years Eve stories I've got (when the forum's a bit less hectic! ;))

I'll put a poll up later but just for now some brief suggestions for the most magical Alty moment you personally remember. It's hard with so many memories and I'm sure more will come intime that you can add on here but what has been your most spine/tingling magical Alty moment.

It doesn't necessarily have to be the most famous. for example, despite having seeen us beat Birmingham and win at Wembley amongst others the best I have ever felt at an Alty  game was when Ken McKenna scored a winner against Kettering in January 1991, an epic game having thrown away a 2 goal lead as we had a week or so earlier v Colchester United (that reminds me). When Kenny rounded the keeper to make it 3-2 it was special, I can never remember the ground feeling quite like that, it had been at the Leek game that I realised we had something special going on but that was THE moment.

You just put one of the funniest images in my head that i could ever imagine. Complete with wrist scarves and everything. :D

For me,as a kid, John Hughes goal at Goodison. I was absolutely amazed, my dad had prepared me for a 7 or 8 nil drubbing and we went ahead. I was devestated when they equalised, never a pen. Remember leaving that huge stand and Liverpool fans turning up outside to gloat. The day I became Alty for life if I hadn't already become so.

Senior's goal & celebration against Milwall

Coburns gravity defying - turn around in mid air save against nuneaton in the FA Cup a few years ago (when we were outplayed & won 3-0)

Ballers,

This question needs some intensive pondering.....but I am tempted to nominate the edge-of-the-seat excitement created by watching you participate in the Blue Square 'keepie uppie' competition during the half-time interval last Saturday.....

ahem, participating?......

1. 6-1 vs Scarboro 1965, Big Jacks 5 of 6
2. First half vs Sheff Utd in replay 3-0 awasome
3. 1978 White Hart Lane
4. Just before kick-off at Old Trafford vs Everton - pretty full Stretford end chanting Alty, Alty...
5. Kingy's goal at Wembley
6. Runcorn semi 1978 - Mal Baily's goal
7. Full time at St Andrews
8. Anfiled - GH pen in front of the Kop, then great reception from the Kop at the end.
9. 5-4 Mossley - truly "unbelieveable" how on earth would Chris Kamara have dealt with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. Phil Gardner's goal to win the senior cup at Crewe 198..something

Yes Freeman's goal for me, still rings in my ears when I got home and watched it on MOTD...

"Freeman!! That's what he can do, kisses the shirt" Or something like that.

The Spurs trip was also special, I also remember going to the pubs before the match and starting to get worried when the lads were chanting, I thought we may be in for some bother but as you say the Tottenham fans seemed to respect us for even stepping foot in the place.

Anytime we beat Vics or Witton always did it for me, even the CSC ties which always seemed to go into extra time? Happy Days :D

Ricky Harris wheeling away in celebration after scoring the winner at Gateshead which to all extents and purposes sealed our return to the conference first time round. That was special, for going up, winning at Gateshead which we never did and the fact that it was Bomber who did it. Top man.  :)
