League 2 News ...
« on: June 24, 2008, 01:14:49 PM »

Taken from the Halifax forum ...

"According to The Times today, Luton will start off next season with minus 25 points, and Bournemouth and Rotherham minus 15 points."

If this is true, and we stay up this year (which we've got a better chance of doing than we thought we had a couple of weeks ago), we could be playing at least one of these - possibly two of them - the season after!

That's assuming of course that Chester see out the season.

No danger of it being Rotherham  ;D

We appear to be spending more on wages then last season, which is interesting

When I was a kid I saw us beat Rotherham 2-0 in the FA Cup. I think it was the 2nd round, when we beat Crewe 3-0 in the 1st round (which was my 1st ever game by the way)

So I think we have a 100% record against Rotherham. Bring them on!!!

not quite mate
3 years earlier in 1977 we played them at their place and they spanked us 5-0
that was devastating as a young lad (well 14) which is why when we took them to the cleaners a few years later it was so satisfying

I was at both those games at Rotherham in the FA Cup. In 1977 our Goalkeeper was Tommy Cavanagh the son of Man United's Assistant Manager of the same name. I also went to the FA Trophy Semi Final Replay against Scarborough at Millmoor when we drew 0-0. It was at the end of the 1976/77 season that our fortunes began to change and we were on the verge of having our most successful period in our history. The team that won at Rotherham in the FA Cup would have beaten any team outside the old Second Division and were unlucky to be knocked out of the Cup that season by Orient (now, and previously known as Leyton Orient).
