Name four clubs to finish below Alty
« on: May 20, 2008, 12:45:37 PM »

Lewes Sacked the most successful manager in their history and look like selling all the best players
Eastbourne Possibly the worst team ever to play at this level
Histon Better than anyone expected last season but won't do it again
Northwich Will probably struggle again
Barrow Will find life a lot harder in this division
Weymouth No reason why they won't struggle again
Woking Need a few new signings but could easily drop down a few places from last season

Any four will do but i am predicting

21 Weymouth
22 Barrow
23 Lewes
24 Eastbourne

I think Northwich will finish in the top 10 if they continue last season's momentum next year. Not a playoff side but around the Ebbsfleet kind of standard.

I think Histon will have "second season syndrome" and struggle a lot more this time around and I also think Barrow will be around the bottom 6. Lewes and Eastbourne are unknown quantities really but given their apparent intent to remain part time they could struggle. Salisbury might struggle a bit more, it's hard to tell really.

I still think we will need to improve a lot to stand a chance of staying up as I don't think there will be any teams cut as far adrift as Stafford and Droylsden were last season.

Lewes
Barrow
Eastbourne ..........

Then us, unfortunately (fighting it out for AGM duty with Histon and, more probably, Salisbury/Woking/Weymouth)

I agree with Alty 365 I can see Vics finishing top half, they are signing players, have a decent squad and are coming off great form last season!

I worry that we will spend the whole season loitering around that relegation line unless we change our negative frame of mind as well as sign some quality players (easier said than done I know!)  :-\

On paper it looks tough, but I think

Lewes
Eastbourne
Weymouth
Woking
Histon
Salisbury
Crawley
Barrow

Will be the teams in the mix with us this season...

I'm going to give you a Goodwin simply for such blind optimism: 'but won't do it again' & 'will probably struggle again'. No particular reason to believe that, but positive thinking has to be good!

I cannot at all see Vics struggling next season...I think the teams in and around the dreaded zone will be"
Alty
Lewes
Eastbourne
Woking
Kettering/Barrow
Histon
Salisbury

I can see either Kettering or Barrow doing OK actually. They're both big enough places that will get really good support...before Kettering started losing players, I thought they could be a mid-table side, but they've had problems in the last couple of weeks. Still expecting them to go out and buy a few players but I think they could be the strugglers rather than Barrow.

Why does no one think Kettering will be in the mix?  Because they are full time?

I think being full time will help them but I don't think they will find this league as easy as some of their fans would have you believe. They are seriously talking about playoffs and reckon their existing squad is already good enough for this. Whilst I don't think they will be bottom 4 material I think they will still struggle to be a top half side.

I think Kettering will finish mid table. They are easily the best of the promoted teams.

I think Kettering will finish mid table. They are easily the best of the promoted teams.

Did you actually see Kettering play last season though?

I suspect that their supporters are seriously underestimating just how much more difficult a league the Blue Square Premier has become since their team last played at this level.

Besides, Mark Cooper's managerial record in this division is hardly inspirational or grounds for ultra confidence.
