Getting to Weyouth - Possibly.
« on: April 18, 2008, 12:32:40 PM »

I have to admit I am going to be a fair weather supporter on this issue as the trip to Weymouth would disrupt family matters greatly with children and my wife working etc etc. I know that is not what you want to hear but unfortunately family matters come first.

However now that I have admitted that I do want to have in place a method of getting to the ground for the final game of the season. My position is this:-

If Altrincham have a chance to stay up I am ALLOWED (yes I am under the thumb !!! )to go to Weymouth if I can sort out a baby sitter.

1) My wife works Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday Afternoon at 2pm.
2) Our Daughter needs to be looked after from 10.00am Saturday until Sunday.
3) My wifes parents live in Stafford and will look after our daughter on Saturday from the morning as long as I picked her up before 9.30am Sunday.

Here are the options.

1) I get up early drive to Stafford, drop my daughter off and get to the Hare and Hounds before 10.15am. Get the coach to Weymouth and the Coach back. Drive to Stafford early Sunday for 9.30am.

2) I get up early drive to Stafford, drop my daughter off and then drive on to Hilton Park Services for a pre arranged pick up with the Coach. Get the coach to Weymouth and get dropped off on the way back at Hilton Park - All this is subject to the coach not using the Toll Road and the Coach allowing a pick up at Hilton Park. Drive to Stafford and sleep at Parents in Law ready for Sunday morning.

3) I get up early drive to Hilton Park and someone picks me up, takes me to the game and drops me off again at HIlton Park and I drive to stafford and sleep at parents in law ready for Sunday morning.

The questions -

1) Is anyone available to pick me up at Hilton Park on Satruday morning and drop me off there on the way home on Saturday night?

2) Will the Coach use the M6 all the way or will it use the Toll Road? or do I need to contact Goodwins?

3) Will the Coach stop at Hilton Park to pick me up and drop me off? or do I need to contact Goodwins?

Anyone able to help pls?

My god, i sympathise with you, I have 3 children under 10 and a single dad, i'm usually dizzy by Saturday night. i would contract the travel co-ordinator PM him on here about coach travel and possible pick ups mate. You haven't said where you live but i'd go for option 1, but 2 0r 3 if possible, good luck  ;D

Well then i'd PM Jacobs on here and find out about the coach, seems most logical if you've already travelled to Stafford.

Jenga,

The coach rarely uses the toll road.

Is driving yourself an option at all..so its all in your own hands with timings and stuff?

yes 4 and half hours is probably right, possibly do it in 4 but steady woud be 5 hours I think.

Cant take my daughter with me she is only 2 and half years old.

I will contact the club again and see if it possible to be picked up from Hilton Park, that would be ideal, if not I may need to either get up early, drive all the way myself or miss it.

In the meantime if any one can has a lift available from hilton park and back please PM me.

Thanks for confirming Toll Road position.

Jenga,  I have a similar child situation and have a pass out only if the game matters (points required),  I will be travelling down on the sat morning and back in the evening from wrexham ,  I think i can go via the hilton park services or somewhere similar, so if you dont have luck with the coach, let me know.
