Robins ready for screen test

GRAHAM Heathcote is confident his side won't wilt under the glare of the television cameras on Thursday.

The Robins' vital clash against Woking is the first Moss Lane game to be screened live on Setanta Sports since the agreement of the new Blue Square Premier television deal last summer.

But despite the excitement of the occasion, Heathcote insists the only thing on his players' minds will be the three points on offer.
"I have no fears because the games on TV and neither should the players," said the Alty boss. "Our focus will will be on getting the three points, it's as simple as that.

"We have 18 games left now. Eight of them are against top sides but the other 10 are games we should be looking to get something from.

"Thursday's game falls into that category, although we still have to be wary that they are a full time team. They don't score many but they don't concede many either so we will probably have to bide our time and take our chances when they come."

The visit of Woking kicks off a run of four games against opposition from the bottom half of the table, including clashes with fellow strugglers Droylsden and Farsley.

And Heathcote knows it is a two-week spell that will go a long way to deciding their fate come the end of the season.

He said: "What's going to be key now is putting together three or four wins on the bounce. If we can do that it will change the picture dramatically.

"This current batch of games is the best chance we have to achieve that.

"Our performance level has increased since New Year's Day but everyone is improving their team so they will all be thinking they have a good chance of staying up.

"There's an intriguing battle going on at the bottom of the table where you have a a group of mainly part-time teams battling it out to stay in this division.

"There's still 18 games left and that's a lot of football so anything can happen."

Although defeat at Cambridge on Saturday was not the ideal preparation ahead of a crucial run of games, Heathcote believes his team's performance in that game provided further evidence of their recent improvement and strength of character.

"It was a really difficult one to take because it was one of those games you know you should've got something out of," he added.

"We stayed in the game right until the end and it loked like we'd got a point when we equalised straight on. But credit to Cambridge, they kept on having a go and got the goal they wanted.

"We didn't have the luck but you get those games throughout the season, we just need to come back from it."
