I would like to see a game between Alty and the England ladies. The 2 best part-time teams in the country head-to-head might jusst suprise us!

A game between these two teams would be mad. Alty would absolutely batter them hands down. They would be too strong. You could never have a close game like that. I am not saying that womens football is bad but you cannot compare the male and female game

Curzon Ashton have a thriving womens set up.

England women used to train at Carrington when I used to play there with Uni. I can tell you that some of the players were of a considerably high standard than the team I played with, which included half a dozen decent semi pro players. No patronising of womens football from chez ballers I can tell you.

Ignorance rather than sexism i hope.

England ladies are a slightly better team on balance i think.  Kelly Smith in particular has a very high skill level, England's goalkeeper Rachel Brown is one of the best, she was just off form at the World Cup.

I go to watch Slough Town a bit when i am at uni.  They have a good ladies team as well (though i've never seen them play).  Their support is small because they lost their ground, but their does seem to be a high percentage of women among them, it may be due to the ladies team.

Skillwise I daresay that the England women's team may be superior, but it is the physical side of the game whwre the women are unlikely to stand much of a chance.

Kelly Smith has talked before about Arsenal Ladies playing against academy sides in pre-season, who they have got results against.  The England side are significantly better than Arsenal, so the question is of how Alty compare to a top academy side.

A few questions for anyone in favour of an Altrincham ladies team in a proper league

1. Would you pay to watch ladies football at Moss Lane and if so how much?
2. What percentage of home games would you attend?
3. When would you want the games played?
4. Would you take it seriously or see it as just a bit of fun?
5. Would you want the ladies team run separately or do you see them as part of Altrincham FC?
6. What do you think the average home attendance would be?

To be fair Baldrick, it's not a question of whether anyone watches tehm, it would just be one more thing to show that we are providing football for the town of Alty.

My answers would probably be not really, hardly any, not bothered, part of our charter, part of Alty fc, small. BUt I'd still be in favour of it.

If there is the interest there from players then i think it would be a good idea.

1. If i leaved nearby i would, £5 maybe, depends on the standard.
2. 0 i can only get to games when im back from uni.
3. Not sure, look at how other clubs do it
4. Isn't football always meant to be fun?
5. In a similar way as the junior teams are now, links between but run as different clubs.
6. Support will come from new areas (women)- clubs from smaller towns seem to do well.  Its not important for them to earn money from it, just to enjoy it.

At least  this is looking at it more seriously, i assume your earlier comment was a joke?

1) Yes, but only maybe half the cost of a 1st XI game
2) See 4
3) Ladies games are usually on Sundays
4) I see it as more of a family attendance; so a bit of both. Seriously want the team to win, but a family orientated entertainment. Maybe a chance for the football widows of a Saturday to get revenge on the Sunday!
5) Deffo part of AFC. Season tickets & family tickets can cover both the blokes & girly football.
6) In all honesty; small. Having said that, we could get a wider range (geographicly) of local support as there are so few ladies' teams in the area.

I remember the ex Chester chairman (The American chappie who's name I forget) wanting a ladies' team at Chester. He was very keen on pushing this, but 'left' before he had the chance. Ladies football in the USA is quite big.

1. A few quid, but enough to keep a team running on gates of roughly 300
2. Not sure, depends when games are. If i could about 80
3. More of a personal issue here, obviously not Saturdays, a few people play on sundays fot local teams, so crowds could be difficult then. Probablya  tuesday or thursday night, though.
4. Not sure, it is a question better directed at potential players
5. Part of the club, definately.
6. ASbout 300

May be a difficult idea, but could be good if things work out well. Obviously other players mentioned on here have played froma n early age, so we would need some good, young, athletic, FIT, talented young women to join.

Another issue, where would they play? Would they use Moss Lane, or would it get too roughed up for the 1st team?

Apart from Man City & Crewe, are there any other Manchester or Cheshire based women's football teams?

Just off the top of my head I can come up with the following.

Liverpool, Everton, Stockport, Tranmere, Crewe, Rochdale, Wigan, Man City, Bolton, Bury, Stalybridge, Macclesfield, Hyde, Curzon Ashton, Salford Sports Village (was Trafford Ladies), Witton Albion.
