Has anyone ever thought of a ladies football team at Alty? If FGR can do it......?

Who'd run it? I can offer suggestions for who could be the big strapping centre backs and the tough tackling midfielders, but I like my wedding tackle where it is, so I wont name names  ;D

We now have 3 Junior teams, and a No of my squad would love to play for Alty Ladies in the future!

I know it has been discussed initially, but if and when I do not know!

You can link through the Junior section for those that are interested.

Football is a mans game. Let the ladies stay at home cooking and cleaning.

Baldrick and Longsden, that is very sexist.

The commitment from some of the girls is 100% and they are as skilfull as the boys.

Im not sexist or misogynistic in any way but I do think that the club should be concentrating on youth set-up for our male squad.

Womens football just doesn't compare, you just have to watch it to realise.

I would like to see a game between Alty and the England ladies. The 2 best part-time teams in the country head-to-head might jusst suprise us!

I'm not sure if it is about comparing male and female footballers. More a case of allowing females the access to a sport they should be entitled to anyway (and at the same time raising the clubs profile).

Some women's football I have seen has been very entertaining. With less physicality often comes more skill.

A lot of goals in the women's world cup, however, showed the 1 weakness: the size of 'keepers. Aim the ball anywhere near the top corner & it is in.

Do they swap shirts at the end of the game?

Do lots of women have talent & coaches.

Mrs Goodwin might have coaches.

As someone who has regularly officiated in Womens football, including the top teams (Leeds, Everton, Charlton etc) I would have to say that I think the technical ability of some women footballers would surprise you. In fact some of the top level women have better technique than a number of Alty first team squad players.

For years I, and others, have strongly advocated that Altrincham have a Womens team. Womens football is the biggest growth area in any sport in the country. The FA and other sponsors are falling over themselves to grant resources for its development.

At many clubs it is also a huge contribution to the local community...Clubs take more than enough from their communities this gives a chance to put something back

Womens football is different in its set up to mens football. They tend to want to play and will, given the slightest encouragement, do almost everything for themselves, not relying on others to do it for them.

Apart from Man City & Crewe, are there any other Manchester or Cheshire based women's football teams?
