Referee film ahead of sportsman's dinner
« on: January 03, 2008, 01:59:50 PM »

Hello and a happy new year one and all :-)

I know this is a bit early and I will bump it a bit closer to the time, but I have been asked to make another short film to be shown at the Graham Poll dinner on the subject of referees. I will have access to a camera for a week beginning Saturday 19th (the YORK game). If anyone wants to follow in the footsteps of Flynny, Longsden, big haired Mike and the Duke (as well as our very own players and Managerial team) by helping me out with my next project I'd be much obliged! I'll also be coming along to training on the Tuesday of that week to speak to the players on a non-matchday and going to the Radcliffe Borough Q&A on Thursday 24th so hopefully I'll see some of you along the way!

Any ideas you have as well on how to make it an interesting ten minute (ish) film on referees would be very useful too!

Thanks all!  :)

Bump  :)

Out of interest for anyone coming to the York match I'm going to be official-ing in the sponsors lounge before the game so any interviews (greatly appreciated ones) will have to be after the game. Let me know if anyone's interested, i know most of you probably have a good story or two so please dont run away on saturday when you see me with my camera ;D
I have a list of questions if anyone wants them x

Are you the girl who made that DVD about Alty?

I bought it at the Trophy game last month but haven't had time to watch it yet.

I can tell you how referees fix matches if you like, heh.

By the way, is there any specifics on this? Like does it have to be BSP refs, any league, or even any sport?

Okay, basically Im looking to fill two five minute segments, one for the start of the evening and one in between courses. Not sure how i'll be splitting the subjects up yet but Im going to get as much as I can filmed and worry about that in the editing  ::)

Quick questions would be:

*Explain the offside rule - for comedy value, not really after a long explanation!
*Most bizarre referee moment you can recall
*What type of person do you think it takes to be a referee? - Would you ever?
*Do refs get too much stick?
*Where do you stand on using technology in football - to be used as an assist?
*In rugby players call the ref Sir, would this be a good idea in footie?
*Or anything else you can think of! Match fixing etc  :-\

Also for the young ones (and the young at heart!) I have a 'rip apart ref' velcro doll that i will be bringing along to star in the video, depending on the lovely ref we have for the York game we may or may not be able to prise it away from GH  ;) but I would hope someone will help me with a demonstration - its soo much fun!

Think my Part time and Proud of it! vid may have gotten a little long winded because I had no real time restraints but hopefully this will be short and snappy. I'm looking to get some footage of 'it shouldnt happen to a ref' or something similar that i can shamelessly steal clips from. Anyone know of something that might be suitable? Its not restricted to any league or anything, Im interviewing a ref from the Lancs and Cheshire League, the two at the Radcliffe Q&A and then of course we have Mr Poll as guest speaker so I'm covering all the spectrum!

Hopefully catch some of you on Saturday,

Thank you!
