Countdown to the Cup: Day 5

One day until the big game

ALTY have received a major boost ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup First Round tie against Millwall with the news that striker Colin Little should be fit to play.

The Robins' top scorer in each of the past three seasons, Little came through training without any problems on Thursday night to put himself in contention for a starting place.

The bad news, however, is that Val Owen remains a serious doubt and it is looking increasingly unlikely that he will be involved.

If he doesn't recover in time for the game, he will join Colin Potts and Gareth Whalley on the sidelines.

Despite the injuries to key players, manager Graham Heathcote remains positive.

"I'm not nervous," he said.

"There's really no point being nervous because we go out there tomorrow with nothing to lose.

"I know what's possible in this competition and there's every chance we could get a result tomorrow if we play well."

Meanwhile, Millwall have moved to ease their own growing injury crisis with the loan signing of defender Marcus Bignot.

The 33-year-old, a former Crewe teammate of Colin Little, has joined on a month-long deal from QPR and goes straight into the Lions' squad.

"We have brought Marcus in because three of our experienced defenders are now injured," said new manager Kenny Jackett.

"Danny Senda, Richard Shaw and Andy Frampton will all miss Saturday's game at Altrincham and consequently I needed to get an experienced player in to bolster the defence."

More good news for Millwall is the possible return of on-loan Watford striker Will Hoskins from injury.

Hoskins returned to training and is hopeful he will recover from an ankle problem in time to play some part.

Youth team players Jack Sim, Gary Noel and Pat O'Connor have also been added to the Millwall squad to cover for injuries, with the likes of Dave Brammer, Richard Shaw, Neil Harris, Andy Frampton and Danny Senda all ruled out.
