The 2008 Good Beer Guide has Burgundy's Wine Bar on Lowther St....think its a proper beer pub really.....and The Castle Inn on Castle Street. Both reasonably near the station.

For anyone around early or overnight The Watermill at Ings is highly recommended by my local informant!

Yeah, it's very good. But it's about 5 miles outside Kendal

Its a crackin' pub. Loads of quality real ales & malt whiskies and excellent food. Real log fires and they let dogs in!
