The sad news of Ian Porterfield's death brings back memoies of our FA cup victory against Sheffield United in 81-2 when he was their manager, the nervy 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane and the 3-0 win in the replay. I seem to recall that he was quoted after the replay as saying 'We go away humbly, beaten by a better team'. Not the sort of quote you'd get from many managers today. Now it would be something like 'I can't believe we've been beaten by a pub team. The ref was awful and all their goals were offside.'  Sheffield United went on to win the fourth division championship that season and were in the 2nd Division 2 years later so being respectful in defeat didn't do any harm.
