Away game at Rochdale
« on: December 27, 2024, 07:27:34 AM »

Hi All,

I assume there is no transport such as coaches available to Rochdale on 01st January. As there is little public transport on that day I assume everybody is going by car. My two foster daughters want to go to the match, what is it like for parking as I am slightly disabled and unable to walk long distances. There seem to be trains from Victoria but not sure how everybody else is getting there. Any help much appreciated, how is everyone else getting there?

Think you can get the Met there, no coaches. Personally will be on the Stream.

Expecting a called off game tbh. Rochdale seem to have worse pitch issues than we have had ever.

I'd suggest planning the trip, but not buying the tickets until the day of/day before if the forecast is clear.

Seems like the forecast is saying it's going to be dry up until roughly 36 hours before kickoff - and then steady rain all the way through from that point.

With the wind being strong it'll probably make for another crap game, but should help to dry the surface and get the game on for them. I'd take another point.

Thank you all, may see if I can get it on DAZN stream if I cannot go due to my mobility issues.

Thanks to all repliers

Rochdale AFC has two parking bays for away supporters. You can book these bays by contacting Jan Marsh on 01706 644648, at least 24 hours before the game. There is a ?5 fee to pre-pay in advance.

Hi Steve,

There is no coach due to Rochdale being not far away & personally i wouldn't risk trains/metrolink on New Yrs Day as service maybe cancelled/ delayed/ or a reduced frequency...

Also the town centre, where trains/trams go to from Manc, is 1.5 - 2 miles from ground leaving a 30-40min walk or taxi/bus from town ctre...

Most i guess will be going by car... i went last season & there is plenty of street  parking near ground... bar yellow coned off area on road immediately outside ground... you can park on main road that ground is on or side street off it for free (within 5min walk)...

Just double check no parking restriction signs, but most streets ok...

There is also usually parking at Oulderhill School or near the Cemetery both about half a mile away from the ground...

Rochdale FC also has two disabled parking bays reserved for away supporters, who can book the spaces by contacting Jan Marsh at least 24 hrs prior to the game on 01706644648 or by emailing Jan@rochdaleafc.co.uk. Cost apparently ?5 to be pre-paid in advance of the match...

Rochdale also have a Disability Liaison Officer called Nicola Toolan... Nicola is located in the Main Reception /Ticket Office on a matchday and she welcomes any interaction with fans... On a non-matchday, Nicola can be contacted by emailing nicola.toolan@rochdaleafc.co.uk

Hope above info helps...

Myself & my wife (plus my mates) will be driving & using street parking (free) near the ground.

Yes. I did it via train/tram last season & it is/was doable but even from Rochdale Town Centre tram stop (a fair bit nearer to the ground on foot than Rochdale train station tram stop) it?s still a 25 min walk at a good pace. With kids & mobility issues definitely one to drive if you have that option.

Trams appear to be on a 15 min (ie Sunday frequency) on NYD but to be fair it looks like trains from Victoria to Rochdale are running as normal & it only takes 13 mins on a fast one so it?s a good option for the younger lads if you plan ahead with your timings.

Thank you all so much for your detailed replies, I really do appreciate them. However, now Carys from Chester has asked me to do a run to Chester to pick up my mother-in-law as she is staying with us over New Year. It will therefore be a little bit tight for me to make the Rochdale game, plus will not look good form if Lacie, Brooke and I suddenly disappear to Rochdale now. Even though it is appealing.

I have had to be content with buying the stream now, expecially with me being ambulent disabled - non wheelchair or mobile scooter, but walking stick. I think I may have struggled; but we will try and get to one or two away games with the girls as they always enjoy going to them and like us, tend to be much more vocal, Brooke in particular.

Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Would love us to get promoted in what would be the end of my 50th season.

Thanks once again all.
