« on: October 17, 2024, 10:35:09 AM »

Need to get back to wining ways after a difficult week. My choice would be

              Ross

Banks  Olson Baines E Jones

        Wilson Crawford

Reddin       Newby     Amaluzor

             Linney

Subs Kosylo, Bickerstaff, Randall, Golden, Osbourne

100% agree with this selection. Is Bickerstaff still at Alty?

Not only do I agree with the selection, I think we should try to stick to it for the next few games to build a bit of confidence and continuity.

PS. Crankshaw as one of the subs for now.

PPS. Not much around about our youth team win over Chester last night?
I'll be smirking around the village (once the flood water has subsided) later today! 😉

So you all think Golden is our 3rd choice full back?

Yes, if Crankshaw fit then 1 of the subs, I forgot him.

On Bickerstaff, I assume Salford did not want him playing in the FA Cup, or injured now I think about it.

Not necessarily. I think that both Banks and Golden are cracking players. I think I went with Banks purely out of continuity from last season.

Rumours that Osborne may have damaged his shoulder ligaments.

Not that the club will ever let us know.

Parky could get a job at the CIA with his OTT secrecy about the playing staff. It?s a complete mystery about Osborne, Marriot, Crankshaw, the status of various loan players. I dare say someone might pick him up on this tonight with the Q&A session for LoyALTY members.

As for Saturday, I think Gateshead are far more beatable then they have been on recent visits to our place. New manager, humbled by NPL Division 1 outfit Hednesford midweek & only won once on their travels since the opening day. We?ve been solid enough at home in the league this season but a lot depends on how we recover from Tuesday nights exertions. If Linney isn?t fit you wonder where the goals will come from. At least with Baines back & the boy from Blackburn we should be a bit more solid defensively.

With both teams on a bit of a low it?s probably ripe for a 1-1 then in front of ooh 2,165.

I would play Golden over Banks.

Recall Weaver.

7 subs so add Weaver & Crankshaw.

Banks can be sub for the CB or FB position.

In the absence of Bickerstaff, you'd certainly want Weaver recalled.

Hopefully you're on the button with the crowd.
I think we'll be lucky to get 1750.
Hope I'm wrong.

I think we will do well to get over 2000 today with Utd at home and Gateshead not having the biggest away support. I'll go 1854.
Regarding the Gateshead fans it will be interesting to see if the group of Gateshead fans who caused the trouble outside the ground after the game last season, whilst waiting for their coach (not the official supporters coach but they seem to have organised their own) will be there. Something maybe for the stewards to keep an eye on post match.
