Is someone from the club going to address this? Or are they happy with disenchantment of fans?

Are we incapable of reading the room on this?

Did anyone get any sense out of anyone on Saturday?

In this evening's issue of the Robins Review, Bill Waterson mentions that the Altrincham FC AGM is scheduled for Friday, 18th October.

A chance for you to address your concerns directly to the board?

I'm a fan not a shareholder. A little odd to make an assumption I'm one of the 317 shareholders, let alone that I would be available on short notice to go to a meeting on a Friday night.

Much less when the first you as a shareholder know's about the meeting is in a match day programme and not a letter notifying shareholders (I'll assume that would also take longer to arrive with me here in NL).

I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this nonsense, look at all other online sources for fan interaction.

Very strange suggestion that I should attend a closed meeting to raise my concerns.

Whoa, steady on there!

First point: you can actually be a fan and a shareholder simultaneously. They are not mutually exclusive.

Plus you don't have to invest a fortune. I've only got a handful of shares, but that still entitles me to attend the AGM.

I was merely pointing out that the AGM is on the horizon, so that represented a potential opportunity for you to question the board members directly about their decision to enter the club into this new cup competition, rather than just rant about the topic on this forum (entertaining as that has been).

For what it's worth, I agree with you that this competition is an utter white elephant, and I would be delighted if a member of the board were to issue an explanation for/the reasoning behind them opting to participate in it.

Who knows, somebody may even raise that very subject at the AGM?

I might even submit a question on your behalf, if you were to ask me nicely... ;)

Not contesting the fan and shareholder point, I know at least 150 of the named shareholders as fans only. My point there was this should not be an issue that is addressed behind what is essentially closed doors.

I'm also pretty sure that we've stopped doing souvenir issue shares after the seedrs and the other investment rounds.

I appreciate the Offer regarding the question, I do think though that it would be a compounded paragraph of questions with rebuttals to most responses so I wouldn't want to put you in that position!

I hope the renumeration the club receive for entering this trash will pay the running costs since hardly any fans will be present.

Amsterdam Alty,

https://altrinchamfc.com/blogs/news/the-clubs-position-on-the-national-league-cup
I don't think anyone needs me to tell them this is utter sh*te from the club once again.

The money is a nonsense. If we're so desperate for 60k I think we should all be panicking. Something is clearly getting very desperate. Yet again the club insults us by flashing the headline figure, then going further to state the money doesn't just go to teams in the comp but north and south teams as well... so it's less than 60k per team involved. If the round bonuses are generous outline them and show us how 1.2m divides between 60ish clubs and gives those involved decent return for the risk of injuring a member of our small squad. For those unable to understand why 1.2m isn't very much money in real terms it's essentially 20k per club on an even divide so either NL clubs are all getting 50k each and NLN/S teams are getting a paltry few grand each. If this was offering 1m to the winner of the comp it would be a whole other story and then being in it to win it would make sense.

When we inevitably announce bargain basement prices for the games that will be the ultimate admission from the club that this is a stupid competition that even they know is not worth the effort for the fans, so they will try and bribe entry like Oldham have done (?5 per game or ?15 for all 4).

I won't put it past them announcing it's free for season ticket holders which would be laughable only a few months after announcing that friendlies were no longer free for fans to raise a little more income. Also then the club can claim it a success because attendances include season tickets.

There is an attempt to trick the fans in to softening about this competition but also while refusing to actually acknowledge the valid criticisms.

Another tip for crisis comms is not to use further ambiguity in your statements... if you consider it a net positive for the club yet every sane minded human cannot do the same explain how and why. We're all grown adults we're not taking what we're told as gospel like it's being dictated to us from above.

Growing revenues does not = growing profit or indeed actually being a net positive on cashflow. Take matchday costs in to account and f**king no one turning up even at ?2 a ticket we'll sink the "prize money" in electrics and performance bonuses when we f**king destroy stoke kids 7-0.

Could we not afford to have some morals and refuse the 50k? Told the fans, utilised the goodwill and probably raised it with ease. See the reception to Eastleigh saying f**k off, they could have raised the money within the week from the goodwill it earned them.

If we had refused to take part, we would have also been having a say in the future of the competition. Protest is far more powerful than conforming.

The club needs to understand that there is no great news for fans regarding this competition.

They better sort out streaming it, selling it to weird Utd fans around the globe might be the only way to actually make revenue out of this cup.

I demand a free Altrincham FC beach towel as well:

I absolutely nailed this call (not the beach towel, but I prefer that idea)... Incredible how tone deaf the club are being.

I don?t think they are being tone deaf. They were a bit slow to put something on the website but Bill came on radio robins to talk about it. They?ve heard you, they just have a different view. Spreading the games out to once a month makes sense to me. Gives minutes to squad players in a way that we get paid for., without causing a really busy two games a week period that adds to fatigue and injury risk. If you don?t want to go, don?t go. I don?t see the need for such anger because the board have weighed up pros and cons and reached a different decision to you.  They clearly realise this is never going to be a fan favourite hence the low / free ticket prices. I can see where they are coming from and if their knowledge of costs says it?s worth doing then ok, they can get on with it.
