Curzon Ashton 30/7/24
« on: July 23, 2024, 05:27:07 PM »

I noticed this morning that the FlashScores app is showing this game as a 1pm kickoff. I initially dismissed it as an error, but on visiting Curzon's fixtures it's showing as TBD. Does anyone know anything? Are we perhaps planning to play the game behind closed doors?

Started slowly - as did the game itself - but in the end we were good value for the win.

Aa expected we dominated the ball but struggled to create many chances - we noticeably stepped it up in the second half, we were a little bit more aggressive and direct and we reacted well to their equaliser.

Both goalkeepers were called into action with a couple of great stops each in the second half. Osborne eventually found his range with his passing and Max Haygarth really ended up coming to life. Kharel Reddin looked a handful again and I'm sure we'll be looking at a deal there - looks like all other triallists have been binned now. I can see what Joe Nuttall brings, but he isn't the most mobile in the world and definitely much better as an option off the bench - although it looks as if he might be starting the season leading the line for us now. Lucas Weaver is going to cause defenders nightmares, especially coming off the bench - his turn of pace is ferocious.

We absolutely MUST strike a deal with Kharel Reddin. He looks like exactly the sort of player who will flourish with us.

Agreed. I know NL defenders will be an upgrade for him but he's got a great burst of speed off the mark and a pair of quick feet. He crosses with his head up and can get to the line to pull it back. He's got to be good enough now to be at least a 75 minute sub running at tired defenders and hopefully something even more than that in time.
