Woking

With the Southend takeover dragging on still, Woking now enter the fray as the most at risk club in the league with the owner announcing that he needs to sell or put the club in admin after getting a 600k loan from his family to keep the club going.

Are we at risk of starting the season a week later than everyone else?

Yes. I've been reading all about it on their forum.
Seems like they're sorted financially for the season though but with no backup.
Best case scenario (from our point of view) is they'll be a bit weaker with fewer new signings for our season opener.

The thing that worries me with these things is they often have the opposite, galvanaising effect.

Didn't Southend batter their first opponents last season (or was it the season before) with a squad of about 12 players?

Haha, ironically I've just posted quite a cheery counterpoint  to the suggestion our first XI is weaker on the odds thread - because of course our other players should continue to improve, and whoever comes into the side for CCC will add their own contribution too.

So.... cautiously optimistic?

We always start dreadfully anyway  ;D

Not this season!
Mrs S and I will be bringing one or two grandchildren to see us kick off the season with a big three points! 😎 😀 👍
