Signed on a season long loan. Decent pedigree but not the best scoring rate. Hopefully he can bang them in for us. Welcome Joe

Much improved scoring record compared to Angus. A goal every 191 minutes (2.16 games) for SC**thorpe in the NL and 1 ever 323 (3.58 games) mins for Oldham. Also got 3 assists with Oldham last season. Angus got 1 every 374 mins (4.16 games) with 4 assists. For Angus his most prolific season he got a goal every 268 mins (2.97 games).

Cheltenham fans felt like he was just settling in before the season ended. He got 16 appearances for them with 2 goals and an assist last season.

I think it's an upgrade and should fill a squad gap. We must also have got a deal here as they were just looking to free some wages up for their budget. If we wanted to pay him his full wage we Oldham would have cancelled the contract in a heartbeat.

I think you're spot on here, the season-long loan (which is unusual for us) suggests we've done a deal with them, I wouldn't be surprised if it's 50/50 wages.

The lad will hopefully play out of his skin to earn himself a permanent deal, and as you say he's got to be seen as an upgrade on Dior Angus - which is what he is.

Surprised to see this one but I trust the club's judgement, could and up being a smart bit of business.

Welcome Joe and good luck.

I like others see this as a Dior replacement. Has pedigree, hopefully we can get him firing on all cylinders again and make a decent goal contribution and put some pressure on Regan.

Would love to see this work. Had hoped for a player like Mark Beck tbh but as others have said, I suppose it's an upgrade on Dior.

Is he the player who scored that long shot from the left against us last season at Oldham, if so that was actually a lovely goal. It was a 2-2 draw if I remember rightly and we had to wait ages for the coach.

It was the first 2-2 draw where we were dreadful for 80 minutes and James Jones was sent off - Maxi pulled one back with that lovely strike from a bouncing ball - and Tyrese Sinclair headed in the late equaliser.

Joe Nuttall scored the first one that contrived to find its way through a crowd of players, leaving him with a smart swivel and finish - from memory he did cause us some issues that day, but we really weren't great.

I suppose we could be on the end of a no win situation here. If Joe comes on leaps and bounds with our encouragement we may approach Oldham to sign him and they say thanks for your efforts. We'll have him back.

Mellon has burned his bridges there I think. He's looking to build a team of his own men. I don't think we need to worry about much other than Oldham being glad to remove his wages completely from their books. Then there is a chance we lose him in Jan to go elsewhere. He would have to have surpassed Regan as starter  and be really doing the business, at that point we're probably in the game for the perm signing anyway.

This loan also covers his final year of contract, which I also think is by design. 3 years at  reported 2.1k a week is a joke of a contract from a club with no real idea of how to do the business side of football.

As long as he's been great during his time with us, I hoenstly don't mind that compared to signing him on an expensive permanent deal and he just sits on his arse like *shudder* Michael Twiss.
