Obviously it's easy to say now with hindsight, but I did think signing Crankshaw was a bit of a risk given that we tend to prefer to play wingers / wide forwards on their inverted sides (with the full backs giving the extra width I suppose) but he strikes me as more old school, preferring to hug the touchline and bomb up and down like a Brad Jackson type (or Justin Donawa).

He's clearly been a great player so I just hope he can get back up to the levels he's performed at previously - should hopefully feel like a new signing in itself of course.

I don't know... Nick Haughton has never struck me as an Alty signing; almost a bit too 'marquee', the sort of player Oldham go in for (and promptly turn him rubbish).

He's arguably more of an 8 than a 10, but it worked well for us with Maxi... I'd be making big moves for Lewis Leigh whilst he's pondering over signing a new contract with Preston. But given he did well at Crewe I'd be surprised if there weren't League Two clubs in for him too, including Bromley given he did well there too and they went up.

One thing's clear, we'll struggle to sign like-for-like and might need more of a functional 10 to allow us to push on further from where we are.

Lewis Leigh has returned to Bromley on a permanent basis - that's a great signing for them.

The power of using the loan market in the right way - it puts your club to the front of the queue.

Based on Parky's comment following the Nomads game we won't be getting a direct replacement for CCC, money from his sale has gone back into the club for other uses. Only one or two more signings he said. Must say a little worried.

Like we suspected. A keeper and another defender probably.
Looking like a different formation could be on the cards?

Yes, the formation is already tweaked. He mentioned this as well.

I am sure PP will have it all sorted by the first game of the season. I am not surprised monies have been used on the ground etc. love it or loathe it, the ground is tired and does need investing in.

It may very well be that we need to prioritise condolidating our position in the National League whilst we put the funds together for infrastructure improvements - as that'll secure the longer term future of the club better than any short-term signings would do.

That said, if the management team spot someone they're confident could be a saleable asset, I'm sure we'll move for them when competition is quieter - and that could be once the season has started of course.

Maybe some more dips into the loan market.
