York City Match Thread.
« on: March 11, 2024, 09:44:51 AM »

Tough game with threadbare squad. I would maybe play as follows.

       Ross

Banks Cooper baines Jones

    Osbourne  Wilson

Newby  CCC Kosylo

    Amaluzor

Hope Osbourne is fit to play or Roscoe will come in and maybe go wing backs with 3 at back.

I'd go with that if Isaac is out.
This really is a must win or we can forget the play offs until next year.

Maybe tempted to give Mooney a start & see if it gives Newby a kick up the arse. Whilst Marriotts serious looking injury on Saturday a big blow if it gives young George Wilson a chance to kick on no bad thing. I like him as a player & his attitude so give him a taste between now & the end of the season.

It’s two sides in pretty desperate form albeit York are in a far more desperate position than us so another one about a month ago I’d have said we’d win comfortably but who knows now.

No idea on the team. I hope Justin can play a bigger part than he did on Saturday.

We are York's bogey team so anything can happen

Go with the original post.

Wonder when we will find out about Marriott…

Would be recalling Donawa. Only him and Amulazor have the pace to get us up the pitch.

Given the weather forecast for rain most of today are there any plans for a late pitch inspection ?

I wouldn't normally say this, but perhaps the lads could do with a postponement to properly re-group.

What's the deal with Dan Mooney?

Unused substitute last couple of games... surely if we're dead on our feet you play one of the fresher lads?

Given that Alex Newby's form hasn't been great, I'd also bring Dan in on the right wing - Kossy on the left.

Nice to see us do it the right way around and not needing to chase the game.

Looked much better going forward and CCC did a decent job as a fake 9.

Whole team were excellent. Osborne ,Wilson, Newby and E Jones really stood out.

Just got to keep starting our best available 11 and formation.

Well done lads.

I see, according to twitter, the York chairman is going to reimburse their fans entrance money!

Tremendous night’s entertainment. Got an early lead & never looked back. Having Justin in makes a huge difference & Newby & Kosylo roasted their defence in the first half. That’s got to be the front 4 set up now of choice if Linney is out. The second goal which was a fine counter attack finished off by Justin my pick of the goals but Mooney’s set up & CCC driven finish for the 5th also worth highlighting.

But York though, wow. They were atrocious. Their poor keeper blundered horrendously for our opener and the 4th goal (arguably the two crucial goals of the night) & Newby made him look silly for the 6th. The worst side I’ve seen us play this season by a long way. Real shame as it’s one of the better & more local days out but they are doomed.

I do come up with some right guff on here sometimes - in fairness at the time it looked like the weather in the lead up to the game was going to be atrocious.

York are just the tonic, aren't they? We all felt we paid them too much respect at their place, and based on that showing I'll be staggered if they don't go down.

Hopefully they've played a few of our lads into a bit of form, and I'm glad Parky took the decision to hook Matty because going down to ten again would have been an absolute disaster for our energy levels.

Any news on Max Haygarth... have we signed him as a free agent? I've got him on Football Manager, he's class.
