Manchester Evening News 1st February 1908.
We know how to deal with a crisis.  I presume that this would have probably been our reserve team.  I had a great Uncle playing for Mobberley around this time and he may have also turned out for Alty too.

My great Uncle is on the far right of the photograph.  He has retired from playing by this time but still retained a keen interest in the club.

Parky has just stated on Radio Alty that the pitch on Saturday was not playable in his view and he thinks the ref made the right call.

That brings this discussion to a close then 😀

Southend's game at Wealdstone has just been called off, an hour or so before kick-off.

I think that's what's known as karma.

I'm not sure this was Karma. It certainly was a pain in the arse as all of the Shrimpers tribe (well over 600) were pretty much ensconced in pubs in Wealdstone or loitering aimlessly outside the ground. Interesting comment from your manager regarding the correctness of the postponement of Saturday's game. But has been said water under the bridge now.

Karma indeed but ultimately, it's the decent away fans who miss out. At least it wasn't a massive journey.
