Yeah, last two league games we’ve gone toe to toe with two of the top three so no big changes required. Amaluzor was excellent in the home game vs Sarfend so one to consider certainly. Be a really tough game with their large home support & ownership situation now gradually resolved so they’ll be buoyant. Dackers no doubt extra motivated after his loan spell here too even though he just faded away really after a good start. Though they’ll be saying the same about Mooney of course.

Huge trek at this time of year when everyone is skint so hopefully the usual Southern exiles can pad out our numbers. 172 at Chessy in the snow was solid on Tuesday night to be fair. I’d take a point which would set us up nicely for 2 big home games next week. Final point with this cold snap, hope their pitch is not too frozen as presume we’ll be travelling on Friday.

Same XI for me - although I wouldn't be surprised if the management tinker.

After the performance on Tuesday night we should definitely be back to 'let them worry about us' mode, which I'll admit I wavered from after the excellent Gatshead result earlier this season.

The sun is set to shine on Southend all of Friday and isn't due to drop back down below freezing overnight going into Saturday, so the pitch should be absolutely fine I would have thought.

Four points from this one and Rochdale please.

Yes, 4 points from these top and I'd be really confident about the play offs.

Surely it's Amaluzor or Mooney (on the right) with Newby a cert for the left?

Southend 1-1 Alty (Newby (pen))

I would say Newby has been our most consistent wide player for a fair few games.

Think the choice would be Mooney or Amaluzor.

Mooney was probably the only one on Tuesday who didn’t really get into the game ( apart from the subs ).

If fit, then I would start Amaluzor, but he needs step up his performances.

No reason why we can’t go and get all 3 points.

Southend fans are none too confident this will go ahead. Like us they've got a chunk of pitch in front of one of the stands that stays in shadow and remains frozen.

If we don't play Mooney against the team that he's just abandoned so he can score the winner and cause a merry hell, I'd be very surprised

Really hope it works out that way Amsterdam! 😉

Unlike the past few nights it's not due to drop below freezing between now and kick off, therefore as long as it's playable as things stand, I'm sure it will go ahead.

Justin Donawa is on Parky's Instagram team photos, so maybe we can expect his name to re-appear on the sub's bench (fingers crossed). Hope he can get fit for the rest of the season.

Am down in Essex now and air temperature is barely above freezing and clear skies so likely a heavy frost again tonight on top if what already seems pretty frozen
Is there any indication of the time of any pitch inspection ?
Suspect it will need to be early to allow notice to be given to us travelling fans

I assume the squad will have travelled down tonight too so we probably will lose out now even if it is called off....judging from what I've been reading from Southend fans we'd be very lucky to be actually playing tomorrow.

Very strong statement from the club, and quite right if we're looking at a £5000 loss for nothing. Especially if Southend have been assuring us that there was no danger of it being off all week only to announce an inspection tomorrow morning. Not only is it unfair on the team and supporters but I'm sure there'll be a number of Southend fans put out by a potentially late postponement too.

What I find odd is that their home game on Tuesday gone vs Wealdstone was PP because of a frozen pitch & I can’t imagine since then the temperatures have got significantly warmer down there, so surely there was always a strong doubt re tomorrow. Especially if you read their forum with a large part of the pitch under a shadow from one of the stands. So not to say a word all day today then slip that out at 7pm tonight what they must have known early this morning is a poor do.

I guarantee if this was the other way round we’d have tons of Southend fans all over our Twitter calling us tinpot bar stewards. Anyway, we live in hope it may still be on but if not at least we’ll be as fresh as Rochdale for the big TV local derby on Tuesday night.
