Their commentator is ridiculous!

Chesterfield have dominated, with the entire game being played in our half so far apparently...

Stream was working or me from 7.45. Must be a local problem.
Good equaliser!

How good is Eddie Jones and Lewis Baines at the back! Good to see them back in there together. Is Will Grigg playing???

Classic one from the commentator: "Altrincham's goalkeeper hasn't had much more to do than Tyrer"

Harsh on Alty. Great game apart from the result.

Tonight's performance shows that we are a very good team but we can't afford to be complacent. Oldham and Rochdale are behind us and are big threats. If we want this, I feel we must beat Rochdale next Tuesday - a huge game.

Played really well at times. Eddie Jones was very good.
Poor subs let Chesterfield come onto us.
No idea what is up with Amaluzor but he was shocking when he came on. He watched Berry run past him.
As for Angus, brings nothing. Linney was a constant threat, just keep him on for the 90, he didn’t play on Saturday.
I hope Ross’s injury isn’t serious. Gould should have saved that first goal.
Most gutting for me is that we have loss and out of the trophy, such a shame.
Need to dip into the loan market for a back up striker and CM.

Rochdale have no keeper since their lad was recalled to go to warm the bench at Northampton instead. Decent timing with no other senior keeper on their books.

I think we were robbed by fate tonight, Ethan saves the first goal just by the virtue of being larger. The second was a great goal, but again, I wonder about the lost height.

Other than that it was just your run of the mill top of the table clash between the best two teams in the league. Standard Alty stuff.

I thought the commentator was decent. Especially considering he had no summariser. I thought he gave credit where it was due to our players and fans. He recognised our players pretty well and slipped a couple of Alty facts in there. He was mistake. That Parky played for us but did say he had a feeling he had so overall very good for a home voice.

I thought we played well. Personally still not 100% convinced on Newby. Positionally very iffy and going forward isnt earth shattering for me. Didn’t see the Barnet game to be fair.

I also agree on keeping Linney on ahead of any other option we have.

We really have to hope that Ross isn't out of action for a prolonged period. He is so important for us and I feel that he would have saved Banks' shot which put them 1-0 up.

Didn't deserve to lose that one. Chesterfield were simply more clinical than us when presented with a chance, and it was written in the stars that Berry would score.

At least there's always the FA Trophy.
Oh.....

Well that was a very encouraging performance against a really excellent side. Chesterfield are by far the best team in this league but we battled well even with Ross having to drop out so late on. I think it’s one of those where yes we have lost the match but the performance levels were still there and against any other side in the league we’d have probably picked something up tonight.

Not as important to the playoff push as Saturday might be, I think everyone will probably lose to them but we ran them close and were perhaps unlucky not to pick up a point.

I thought Gould actually did fine overall although I agree with others that Ross might have saved the first one. It’s always tricky for a keeper when they’re not playing every week anyway but to suddenly get thrown in so close to kick off adds an extra dimension to it all.  It does highlight how integral Ross has been to where we are this season, however.

In terms of subs, Linney had a brilliant game…just so dangerous on the ball and creative. His part for our equaliser was superb but I do think he was exhausted so no harm in bringing Angus on at that point who does have it in him. I thought Amaluzor looked a bit off it when he came on and probably didn’t quite have enough time to get into the game. I’m not sure if him not starting is tactical or that he’s carrying a knock?

Anyway, decent performance but Chesterfield are 12 points clear for a reason and found a way again like title winners tend to do.
