Streets Ahead Record Shop
« on: August 02, 2023, 11:08:08 AM »

Does anyone remember the 'Streets Ahead' Record Shop on Lloyd Street around 1978/79.  They were the only ones left in an otherwise derelict row of shops that stood about where Sainsbury are now. They specialised in punk and new wave music and even released a few singles on their own label.  There were three I think: 1. The Kids just wanna dance by the Fast Cars  2.  Downpour by Foreign Press.  3. Don't remember anything about the other one.

I remember the Fast Cars and Foreign Press appeared and performed together at South Trafford College.  I think the shop was owned and managed by 'Jane'.
