How many more games are we going to give Angus?
Won the pen but he was anonymous and has been for weeks.
Taking Amaluzor off and keeping Angus on the pitch was ridiculous.
We needed pace, Amaluzor and Sithole would have given us that.
Banks wasn't great either. It looked like his poor ball that gave them the ball for their 2nd.
Need to get more players into the box. Neither full-back overlapped, which meant too much passing around the edge of the box.
CCC was quality today, the rest average or poor.

How on earth have we contrived to lose that game?!

Both their goals arose from us giving away possession on the fringe of their penalty area.

We were pedestrian for much of the first half and guilty of overelaborating around their penalty area.

However, we dominated the second half and penned them back for long periods.

Newby, Angus and Amaluzor were all underwhelming, and I still remain unconvinced by Banks.

Conn-Clarke certainly wowed the rather annoying commentators on the streaming.

Hugely frustrating.

Donawa is equally as good at defending as Banks, but much better at attacking. Donawa should be our RB.
Our fullbacks didn't get forward at all today.

How did that result just happen?

However, nice to hear Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse are still as comedic as ever amid a bizarre five minutes twenty or so into the first half where there was no camera shot with the ball in view just random players trotting around as the action continued... somewhere.

Hindsight's a marvellous thing, but perhaps going with a back three, wing backs and a wide front two might have worked better. It got us our best away win of the season at Gateshead and a point at Oldham when we were largely rubbish throughout.

I don't blame the management team for sticking with the system after such an impressive home win, but perhaps a learning point to stick to the occasion a bit more.

Or maybe it was just one of those days... and they've have been criticised if we'd switched up a winning side and lost (which we may very well have done).

Decisions to make for Rochdale.

I think a kneejerk change for Rochdale would be a big mistake. But what do I know?!

Yep, there's always that risk. Assuming Linney comes in from the start, that'll change the dynamic anyway.

Ordinarily I'd say Newby needs a rest, but he'll be bang up for it on Tuesday to prove a point.

The stream was very odd in the first half, seemed like the camera operator went awol for a few minutes at a time and left the camera pointing fixedly across the pitch, whether the ball was there or not (it wasn't). Weird.

As for the game, well we certainly improved in the second half and looked like the only winners for most of it, but then another mistake giving the ball away cost us. I thought it was Newby with the poor pass, but might be wrong, will need to see the highlights. Earlier Eastleigh made a mistake and Newby did very well to create a great chance for CCC, but he missed a sitter and hit the post unfortunately. We do need others to step up more with the creativity as well though.

Linney looked rusty, not too surprising given the time he's been out.

Think the full backs defend well and that is by far their main job, with both RB options offering more going forward than the LB, who does a solid defensive job.

I actually thought CCC had a poor game, his end pass was well off his usual mark
