Dutchies to Altrincham
« on: October 12, 2023, 07:20:37 PM »

Hiya all,
We are two Dutchies who finally are able to visit our club.
Whereabouts should we go for a pint before the game?
Naturally we are looking for the full Alty experience.

Thanks in advance! See you on Saturday 😁

Try Goose Green and especially Costellos for some real ale.....try around the Market Hall....try Kings Court.

For sure, try the Fan Zone at the club.

PS: we will get some mayonnaise in to put on your chips. ;D

Yes. Start at the Market Hall which is a 5 min walk from Altrincham metro & train station. Lots of different food options & an excellent bar run by Blackjack, a fine Manchester brewery. After that a 5 min walk towards Kings Court (tucked down an alley, you’ll need Google maps) where there is a small sports bar called Libero that does a discount for Alty fans on matchdays & will have some football on TV. There is another bar in the same square called Batch which has the best range of beers in Alty (and one of the best in Manchester in my view). Finally come out of Kings Court & cross the main road & cut through again to Goose Green. A bar called Costellos, the bar of the local Dunham Massey brewery. Strong selection of traditional English ales & popular with home & away fans on matchdays. And don’t forget to leave some room for a beer in the fan zone at the ground which always has a really good selection too & will have some curry & rice too.

Couple of points too that you can’t drink & watch the game at the same time at our level of football & places likely to be a lot busier than usual on Saturday, as it will be one of our largest attendances of the season. Enjoy the match & the day out lads!

Man, that all together sounds like a great day already, even before the match starts…! What about the times that we have to be at these locations?

The Market Hall bar-Blackjack-opens at 1100, all the other places mentioned will be open at 1200. I would recommend getting in the fan zone at the ground by about 1415 as queues to get in & get a beer will get bigger nearer to kick off.
