Ellesmere Port had hardly any fans which was why they went bump. The trouble at their games, as I remember, was caused by Liverpool and Tranmere fans living locally. Don't forget Ports team comprised mostly of ex Tranmere players (and we signed a couple of them!)
Barry Ashworth, Joe Pritchard etc.
Also the legends Mickey Brooke and Gerry Casey of course . Ashworth initially joined us from Chester. After leaving us he had a season at Ellesmere before returning to ML.

I'm still haunted by the abject defeat at their place in the season we were last relegated from this level.

The atmosphere was quite unpleasant that evening, our management were copping a load of abuse, and a number of scrotes in their fanbase followed us back down to the train station afterwards.

Some decent boozers in the town these days I suppose.

Great memories winning 3-2 on a freezing night in the 90's. Dean Pritchard scored two if I remember right ? They were top, we were heading the wrong way.

Yes. 95/6 season. They were supposed to be going for a second title. The funny thing, as I remember, was they were desperate to get the game on as we had players out, and a massive effort ensued to clear the pitch. I rather think that we'd barely heard of Dean Pritchard at the time, but he came up trumps. Still one of my best nights watching Alty. On the coach back, someone quipped, "how dare it be a Tusday"!

Wasn’t a hat trick. Think he scored 2, at least 1 anyway which was the winner.

Think Hardy may have got the other. Rebound after a missed penalty at the bottom end?

Just in from that Macc sh*te. Gave the ball away too easily at times. And I would like to see more shots on target. Do we need to walk it in. New keeper looks a presence and was unlucky for their goal. Soft one to concede, losing the tackle on the half way line. Pies were ok to be fair. A win is a win. Not sure about the 11 starting?
