Ben Garratt, Jonny Maxstead, Jonathan Mitchell. All are still without clubs and are based in the catchment area...

Just amazes me that Parky is allowing the keeper position to be a shambles.
Can't be pissing around with two bang average keepers in the National League. It will lose us so many points, as it did last season.
The defence have no confidence in him.
Also, we are a CM and winger short. In patches I really liked Swales , second half he disappeared.

I'd settle for a bang average keeper ahead of the two we've got, who aren't even that. Gould was slightly the better of the two tonight, but the goal he conceded was practically a carbon copy of Aaron Bennett's on Saturday.

Still remain concerned that we only have Joey Jones and Marriott for CM.

Vital position and we have no quality in reserve. If Jones doesn't perform we will be in trouble in that area.

Osborne has been given the number six shirt.
Is that a significant gesture or are shirt numbers meaningless with regards to management intent?
If it's not meaningless it's a bit worrying isn't it?

There must still be loads of goalkeepers trialling at Steps 1-2 (and possibly even 3). One that I noticed was ex United graduate Mackenzie Chapman who was released by Bolton this summer and looked too good for the level at Atherton Colls at the end of last season.

Brockbank had 3 last year so I wouldn't read too much into it.

I suspect he was asked to give the number 10 shirt to Cricky and was told he could have the pick of a few other numbers if he did so.

The academy lads got numbers under 20 last year and I don't think started a conference game.

Joey Jones has got 22 - probably lucky for him - so I'd expect him to get a start ahead of Osborne.

I've desperately wanted Byrne to succeed but my hope is declining. Whatever made him stand out in Wales is clearly not evident in England.
I went last night and only no 10 and Linney stood out. Mind you, it wasn't difficult to stand out.

Do think a quality central midfielder is needed

You're not on your own in that opinion.
Plus a new keeper and left wing solution as well.

Couldn't one of our young reserves keepers like Forde (?) be given a shot to see how they perform at least?

Ollie himself might know the answer to why he stood out in Wales...

We've had successful pre-seasons in terms of results and then gone 10 games without winning at the beginning of a campaign before. This result and performance means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. Additionally, as Phil says, if there's a new pre season system we're following then I'd prefer that we're taking action to mitigate our customary slow starts to seasons at the expense of a few poor performances in friendlies.
