New signings
« on: June 18, 2023, 06:15:44 PM »

I'm generally enthused. Obviously a massive welcome back to Chris Conn-Clarke. Joey Jones is another massive piece of business. Dior Angus will get us goals as long as he's 100% fit.

We do seem a little top-heavy in central defence. It does make me wonder if PP has plans to try a back five. The new right back says he prefers to defend - are we thinking of shifting Lewis Baines to left back, and Eddy Jones into a more advanced role ?

I await Lancaster with a great deal of interest - I shall try not to do a pub crawl till afterwards. To anyone with a love of classic pub interiors, I cannot recommend Hogarth's Gin Palace highly enough!

I think the suggestion was Baines on the left of a back three, with Eddy Jones at wing back.

I must admit I'd prefer to go back to the 4231 we know and love, but perhaps we'll continue to alternate between two separate setups again.

It seems to me that Dior Angus can play on the left of a 4231 or partner Regan up front if we went three at the back and two up front.

I still believe we're in need of a goal scoring winger. We're still a bit low on numbers up front but imho all the signings are positive ones - and, importantly, not loans.
Perhaps we're leaving room for a couple of successful trialists in the early friendlies?

I thought seven had signed with two left to be announced ?

Nothing not to like about the newcomers and a massive upgrade on previous close season business . Huge statement of intent imo .
Saughall and i both want to see a winger ( or two ) next.

Wasn't aware of that Timperley. If you're correct, and I hope you are, we could be going into the phase of friendlies fine tuning the team ready to hit the ground running in August rather than looking for prospects for starting berths.
The first time for, I think, decades this has happened and a real leap forward in the progress of the club.
Very pleased, personally, and will be even more pleased if we sign a marquee winger signing!

Buzzing with CCC, don't really know the other players.
We 100% need wingers.
I think we are more of a force when we play 4231.  If the wingers are up to the standard, then we don't need 3 CB's in my opinion.

Think someone said, on another thread, that they were cousins.
